Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brad Maynard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maynard kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is thunderstruck. Oscar Silva has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Brad Maynard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silva throws a nice inside leg kick.
Maynard throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Silva's waist but Silva gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maynard off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maynard.
Maynard shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Silva pinned against the cage. Silva gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brad Maynard. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Maynard shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Maynard shoots in looking for a takedown. Silva tries to sprawl out of it but Maynard keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Silva manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Maynard is breathing heavily.

Silva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Silva wants to stand up but Maynard is controlling the position.
Silva wants to take a breather but Maynard is having none of it.
Maynard is trying to maintain the position but Silva is very close to passing his half guard.
Silva is trying to control the action in half guard but Maynard is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Maynard is in trouble now - Silva has advanced to mount!

Maynard tries to hold on but Silva postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Silva postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Maynard looks a forlorn figure.
Silva with shots to the head and body - Maynard looks very uncomfortable down there.
Maynard is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.
Silva really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Maynard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maynard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Silva can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maynard throws his legs up looking for a submission but Silva uses it to pass to side control.

Silva decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Silva is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Maynard might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Silva thows a huge punch but Maynard dodges it nicely.
Silva not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Maynard gets back to full guard.
Silva wants to stand but Maynard is controlling his posture from full guard.
Silva thows a big elbow that misses.
Maynard scores with a couple of body punches from the bottom.

Maynard escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silva gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silva wants to get up but he can't break Maynard's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Maynard is looking for a triangle but Silva pushes his legs off easily.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Maynard controls Silva momentarily but Silva frees himself.

Silva is sitting in close to Maynard's body. Maynard has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Silva is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Silva is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maynard.
