Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Freddie DeLuna (ranked 4224 p4p, 3269 weight class) and Terry Atkins (ranked 507 p4p, 425 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Freddie DeLuna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Terry Atkins!
The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atkins misses with an uppercut.
Atkins thows a left - swing and a miss!
Atkins throws an overhand right that lands on DeLuna's shoulder, as DeLuna tries to avoid the shot.
DeLuna misses with a takedown attempt - Atkins sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Terry Atkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Atkins with a nice cross.

It looks like Freddie DeLuna has been cut.
DeLuna is looking to clinch but Atkins is avoiding it.
Atkins lands with a cross.
DeLuna uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Atkins.
Atkins misses with a straight left.
A swing and a miss from Atkins.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

DeLuna drives through with a takedown into Atkins's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

DeLuna is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Atkins is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Atkins has escaped and now he's on top!

DeLuna seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
DeLuna controls Atkins momentarily but Atkins frees himself.
Atkins won't allow DeLuna to sweep him here.
Atkins is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
DeLuna trying to keep a closed guard but Atkins is proving a slippery customer.
DeLuna bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Atkins's guard.


DeLuna postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Atkins is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of DeLuna, into his guard.

DeLuna is trying to keep Atkins in close.
Atkins showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
DeLuna has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Atkins has passed into side control.
DeLuna is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Atkins controls the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
DeLuna is looking for a sweep.

Atkins content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and DeLuna counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by DeLuna.
Atkins has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Atkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. DeLuna swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

DeLuna has his foot on Atkins's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Atkins works his way back into a safe position though.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Atkins is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Atkins misses the jab.
Atkins scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Atkins pulls out of a head kick attempt.
DeLuna has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Atkins.
Atkins throws a nice inside leg kick.
Atkins scores with a nice body kick.
Atkins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Atkins throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
DeLuna drops down looking for a counter takedown but Atkins sprawls and moves away.

DeLuna ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
DeLuna feinted with a counter takedown.

DeLuna shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

DeLuna is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Atkins wants to improve his position but DeLuna is controlling well.
DeLuna wants to take a breather but Atkins is having none of it.
DeLuna will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Atkins wants to get back to full guard.

DeLuna is working for a submission of some sort.
DeLuna seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Atkins does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Atkins keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
DeLuna is stalling here. Atkins is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! DeLuna seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Atkins has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
DeLuna can't do much from the bottom here.
DeLuna tries to buck Atkins off but Atkins is having none of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
DeLuna is trying to control Atkins's posture but Atkins avoids it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Terry Atkins showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

A head kick from Atkins lands but DeLuna takes it in his stride.
Atkins stuffs the takedown attempt from DeLuna. DeLuna gets slowly back to his feet.
Atkins scores with a punch to the head.
A telegraphed right hand from Atkins misses the target.
DeLuna goes for a double leg but Atkins avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Atkins continues to drive forward.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Atkins! But no joy.
Atkins is pressed up against the cage. DeLuna has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Atkins down to the mat. Atkins avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Freddie DeLuna. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Atkins slaps away a takedown attempt from DeLuna, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A solid body kick from Atkins.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Atkins lands a big uppercut and DeLuna crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but DeLuna looks OK. Atkins waves DeLuna back to his feet!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Atkins throws an overhand right that lands on DeLuna's shoulder, as DeLuna tries to avoid the shot.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! DeLuna crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Atkins - the referee stops the clock and DeLuna gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Atkins. DeLuna manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Atkins circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends DeLuna tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Atkins wins by KO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Terry Atkins!
