Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Commie Hunter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michał Kowalkiewicz! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Ian Loll and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kowalkiewicz misses with a wild body shot. Kowalkiewicz throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hunter misses with a wild combination.
Hunter misses with a body shot.
Hunter connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hunter walks into a jab. Jab, jab by Hunter - just one landing. A nice leg kick lands there from Kowalkiewicz. Hunter misses with a looping left. Hunter throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Kowalkiewicz scores with a leg kick.
Hunter misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Kowalkiewicz cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. We've been told by Hunter's head coaches at Shao Kahns Training Facility that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Hunter works Kowalkiewicz's body with a nice hook. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sloppy strikes from Hunter. Those never looked like landing. Hunter throws the kick towards the body but Kowalkiewicz avoids it. Kowalkiewicz moves out of range of the strikes. Wow, both these guys are really going for it! Hunter walks into a jab. Hunter throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Kowalkiewicz. Hunter throws a lazy right hand but Kowalkiewicz sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Kowalkiewicz getting the better of the striking in that exchange. Kowalkiewicz moves out of range as Hunter strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hunter lands the left hand. Hunter walks into a stiff left hand from Kowalkiewicz. Hunter loads up on a big right hand but Kowalkiewicz slips the punch. Decent striking displayed by Hunter there. A jab from Kowalkiewicz misses. Hunter seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Hunter throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Kowalkiewicz scoring well with a low kick there.
A jab from Hunter misses. Kowalkiewicz's jab looks to have found its range, popping Hunter under the eye. Kowalkiewicz scores with a jab. Hunter throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kowalkiewicz is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Kowalkiewicz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Kowalkiewicz avoids the body shot from Hunter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Kowalkiewicz pushes Hunter away with a front kick. Hunter misses with an uppercut. Kowalkiewicz saw that one coming. Good standup being displayed there by Hunter as he connects with a hook. Hunter misses with a wild body shot. Jab, jab by Hunter - just one landing.
Kowalkiewicz is rocked! Hunter throws a monster overhand right that drops Kowalkiewicz! Hunter follows up with more strikes from mount and the fight is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Commie Hunter! Commie Hunter tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
