Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lou Higgins (ranked 349 p4p, 746 weight class) and Jolly Roger (ranked 53 p4p, 116 weight class). Roger has chosen Under Jolly Roger as his entrance music. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lou Higgins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jolly Roger!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Joseph Jones and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Roger tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Roger misses with an uppercut
and Higgins counters with a right hand to the body.

Roger closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Higgins swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Higgins tries to throw a body punch but Roger avoids it by throwing Higgins back against the cage.

Roger blocking some punches.

Higgins escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Higgins throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Higgins swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Higgins looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
A looping hook to the body misses from Higgins. Roger does a little dance to reset his feet.
Higgins uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Roger.
Roger has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
A cross from Roger lands.
Higgins throws a body shot but no joy.
Roger jabs Higgins to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Jolly Roger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Higgins wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Higgins ducks under a wild hook from Roger.

Roger shoots in for a double leg but Higgins sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Higgins was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Roger misses with a wild body shot.
Higgins is looking to wear down Roger with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

Oooooh!!! Higgins has knocked Roger down with a huge combo! Higgins steps away and waves a wobbly Roger back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Roger is rocked!

It looks like Jolly Roger has been cut.
Roger slips a jab and a cross from Higgins.
Roger scores with a jab to the head.
Roger misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Higgins.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Roger swings for the body but Higgins moves out of range.
Higgins loads up on a big right hand but Roger slips the punch.
Roger throws a right and a left that Higgins avoids nicely.
Roger slips a jab and a cross from Higgins.
Higgins throws a shot to the body.
Roger swings for the body but Higgins moves out of range.
Roger changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Higgins tries to avoid it but Roger manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Higgins to the ground. Higgins escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Roger takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Roger will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Roger.
Higgins managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Roger.
Higgins is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Higgins tries to escape but Roger is in control.

Roger wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Higgins, who protects the arm well.
Higgins wants to control but Roger postures up.

Higgins can't do much from the bottom here.

Roger is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Higgins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Roger in side control, throwing shots but Higgins defends.
Higgins is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Higgins is trying to improve his position.
Roger has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Higgins can't do much from the bottom here.
Roger wants to lay and pray for a moment but Higgins keeps working.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Roger sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Higgins is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Roger lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Roger looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Higgins moves into full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lou Higgins dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jolly Roger's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Roger shoots for a double leg takedown but Higgins sprawls well. He's pushed Roger's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Higgins lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Roger throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Jab, jab by Higgins - just one landing.
Roger scores with a three punch combo!

Roger looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.

Higgins has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Roger is on him like a limpet, forcing Higgins back against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Higgins scores with a shoulder strike.
Higgins lands a shot to the body.
Roger struggles to land a body shot inside as Higgins controls his hands.
Higgins lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Higgins has a couple of punches blocked by Roger.
Roger can't get the takedown.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Higgins.
Roger is breathing heavily.
Higgins lands a nice uppercut.
Roger's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Roger is still on wobbly legs! Can Higgins finish him?

Higgins working aggressively here.
Roger seems to have recovered his senses.
Higgins unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Roger! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Higgins is unloading with more strikes now! Roger drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lou Higgins!
