PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Leal (ranked 2727 p4p, 3166 weight class) and Grizzley Adams (ranked 84 p4p, 95 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nathan Leal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Grizzley Adams!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The crowd cheers as Adams lands an impressive looking overhand right. Leal doesn't seem phased though.
Adams lands a nice shot to the body.
Adams misses the jab.
It looked like Leal wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Adams misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Adams has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Adams fails with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adams feints and as Leal raises his hands in defense, Adams changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Adams postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Adams postures up in Leal's guard and throws a big left but Leal blocks it.
Adams lands a couple of digs.
Adams working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Adams trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Adams has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Adams throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Adams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Adams lands a couple of digs.
Adams keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Leal's head.
Adams trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Adams throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Adams trying to control but Leal is working from the bottom.
Adams is looking to work some ground and pound but Leal has wrist control.
Adams postures up in Leal's guard and throws a big left but Leal blocks it.

Leal wants to sweep here but Adams controlling him for the moment.

Adams working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Leal's head.
Adams connects with a couple of short punches.
Adams scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Adams in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Adams works over Leal with some ground and pound from guard.
Adams is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Adams stands up over Leal, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Adams forces his way into half guard.
Adams working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Adams working the head and body with strikes.
Adams winds up and cracks Leal with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Leal knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adams on the ground.
Adams is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Let's hope that Adams has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Adams wants to lay and pray for a moment but Leal keeps working.
Leal on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Leal tries to get out of the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Adams working over Leal with some ground and pound. Leal looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Grizzley Adams dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Adams tries to bum rush Leal with a series of wild strikes but Leal uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Leal seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Adams will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Adams scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Leal doesn't seem bothered though.

Adams shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Adams is in close to Leal's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Adams cracks Leal with a solid left hand.

Adams passes easily into side control. Nice work.
A big shot lands for Adams! That's hurt Leal! Will he recover? Adams fires away with more strikes and the referee has to step in to stop the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Grizzley Adams!
