PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Octavio Dos Anjos (ranked 3475 p4p, 2286 weight class) and Wolfgang VonMildenstein (ranked 442 p4p, 316 weight class). Dos Anjos comes to the cage accompanied by አንተነህተስፋዬ. Wolfgang VonMildenstein told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Octavio Dos Anjos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Wolfgang VonMildenstein!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
VonMildenstein throws a series of strikes that have Dos Anjos backpedaling.
Dos Anjos connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Dos Anjos scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
VonMildenstein tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Dos Anjos throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Dos Anjos lands a nice looking body shot.
Dos Anjos really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Dos Anjos scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. VonMildenstein doesn't seem bothered though.

VonMildenstein is fighting to break Dos Anjos's control of his arms but Dos Anjos is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

VonMildenstein tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

VonMildenstein darts in looking for a takedown but Dos Anjos gets double underhooks and turns VonMildenstein into the cage.
The fight stays on the outside here - VonMildenstein looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
VonMildenstein tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Dos Anjos paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Dos Anjos throws a looping overhand right but VonMildenstein ducks down to avoid it.
VonMildenstein wants to counter the offense by Dos Anjos and move into the clinch position.

Dos Anjos thuds his right hand into VonMildenstein's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

It looks like Wolfgang VonMildenstein has been cut.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Dos Anjos, as that shot connected.
Dos Anjos takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Nice takedown defense from Dos Anjos. No joy for VonMildenstein on that attempt.
Octavio Dos Anjos has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wolfgang VonMildenstein.

Dos Anjos throws a body punch but VonMildenstein moves out of range.
Dos Anjos cracks VonMildenstein with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

Dos Anjos drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks VonMildenstein right on the button. VonMildenstein goes down! Dos Anjos follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Dos Anjos gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Octavio Dos Anjos!
Octavio Dos Anjos spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
The defeated Wolfgang VonMildenstein had this to say: 'This sucks'.
