Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ruslan Karelin (ranked 1221 p4p, 1756 weight class) and Liam James (ranked 168 p4p, 241 weight class). James has chosen Come To Daddy by Aphex Twin as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Liam James!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Karelin forces James back against the cage and clinches.
James lands with a short shot to the head.
James misses with a punch on the inside.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
A telegraphed right hand from Karelin misses the target.
Karelin cracks James with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

James bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Karelin's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Ruslan Karelin!
A less than humble Ruslan Karelin misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
The defeated Liam James had this to say: 'No one likes seeing their opponent's hand raised, but that just means that they were the better man today. My team at 3Band MMA and I will break down this match and make the proper changes for my next camp.'.
