Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hans Gruber! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeremy Staton! The judges for this bout are James Glass, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Staton throws a series of strikes that have Gruber backpedaling.
Gruber looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this! Staton drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Staton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Staton is looking to take a break and control but Gruber is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Staton has knee on belly and moves into mount. Staton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gruber is looking to escape. Gruber is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Staton looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Staton fails to advance to Gruber's back. Staton forces the positional change into back control. Staton looking to finish the fight with a rear naked choke. Gruber is controlling Staton 's left arm and he spins nicely into guard. Staton is trying to keep Gruber in close.
Staton looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Gruber passes into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Staton manages to work his way to half guard, despite Gruber's best efforts. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Staton is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Staton is trying to stand.
Staton moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Staton had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Gruber is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Staton Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Gruber's back instead. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Staton not allowing Gruber to control his hands. Gruber is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gruber is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Gruber defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Staton's arms. Staton doesn't have the hooks in and Gruber manages to turn into his guard.
Staton has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Gruber doesn't defend quickly enough and Staton has managed to lock this one up! Can Gruber escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Staton on a fantastic submission victory.
