Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steven Adefemi (ranked 1817 p4p, 6694 weight class) and Noah Ortega (ranked 253 p4p, 595 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Adefemi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortega throws out a loose jab but Adefemi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Adefemi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ortega throws a head kick that misses.
Adefemi was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Ortega shoots in but no luck this time.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ortega or perhaps it was just good defense by Adefemi, which made it look bad.
Adefemi swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Ortega with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Ortega closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
The strikes coming from Ortega are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Adefemi knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ortega on the ground.
Ortega tries to score with some ground and pound. Adefemi controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Ortega tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ortega has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Ortega tries for a kimura but Adefemi is defending well.
Ortega postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adefemi on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Adefemi tries to get out of the position.

Ortega content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
Let's hope that Ortega has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ortega swings around for an armbar but Adefemi sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ortega's guard.
Adefemi is fighting to break Ortega's control of his arms but Ortega is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Adefemi got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ortega has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Adefemi has managed to get both his arms back between Ortega's legs - danger averted.

Ortega told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Ortega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Adefemi gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Ortega is looking for a triangle but Adefemi pushes his legs off easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Noah Ortega dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Ortega throws a looping overhand right but Adefemi ducks down to avoid it.
A telegraphed right hand from Adefemi misses the target.
Nice defenses there by Adefemi.
It looked like Adefemi wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Adefemi loads up on a big right hand but Ortega slips the punch.
Ortega takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Adefemi shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Adefemi sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Adefemi takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ortega changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Adefemi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Ortega is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Adefemi's shoulder. That is not cool.

Ortega thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Adefemi tries to buck Ortega off but Ortega is having none of it.

Adefemi parries the strikes from Ortega easily there. Ortega is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Adefemi to escape.

Ortega has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Adefemi is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Ortega yanks on the arm and Adefemi is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Ortega.
