Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Frankie DeLuna (ranked 2811 p4p, 4586 weight class) and Gorilla Grodd (ranked 162 p4p, 240 weight class). Gorilla Grodd told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Frankie DeLuna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gorilla Grodd!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grodd on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
DeLuna misses with a body shot.
DeLuna moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
DeLuna really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Grodd throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Grodd throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
DeLuna throws a right hand that Grodd ducks under and follows up with a left that Grodd also avoids with ease.
DeLuna misses with a hook
and Grodd connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Grodd feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits DeLunas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Frankie DeLuna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Grodd checks a leg kick.

Grodd fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. DeLuna looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Grodd avoids a kick to the body.
Grodd scores with a shot to the body.
DeLuna closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grodd circles away.
Grodd lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.

DeLuna fails with the takedown.

DeLuna is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.

Grodd pivots, looking for a leg kick but DeLuna is out of range and Grodd settles back down.

Grodd attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
DeLuna attempts a counter takedown but Grodd avoids it well and moves away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Grodd bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps DeLuna's head backwards.
Grodd has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.
DeLuna misses with a series of wild punches.
Grodd thows a left - swing and a miss!
Grodd lands the left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

and Grodd cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Grodd pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces DeLuna back to the cage. Grodd follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from DeLuna is defended easily by Grodd.
Grodd looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Grodd thuds a left hand into DeLuna's body.
DeLuna wants to clinch.
Grodd bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
DeLuna looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Grodd throws an overhand right that lands on DeLuna's shoulder, as DeLuna tries to avoid the shot.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Grodd lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and DeLuna has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from DeLuna and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

DeLuna feints a jab promting Grodd to slip. DeLuna then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Grodd slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

DeLuna will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Gorilla Grodd seems to be getting the better of the standup.

DeLuna pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Grodd has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Grodd catches DeLuna with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Grodd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
DeLuna takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Grodd cracks DeLuna with a hook to the temple - DeLuna is on wobbly legs here! Grodd swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! DeLuna falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Grodd wins by TKO!

A very excited looking Gorilla Grodd made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
