Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Manuel Rios!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Joseph Jones and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reiss tries to score a power double leg takedown but Rios sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Reiss somewhat.
A countering left hand to the body from Rios misses.
Reiss takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Reiss clinches.
Rios is trying to break the clinch but Reiss is controlling him.
Reiss keeps control of Rios as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reiss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Reiss throws a sloppy head kick and Rios moves out of range easily.
Reiss misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Rios lands the left hand.

Rios stuns Reiss with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rios scores with a body shot.
Rios throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Rios swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Reiss throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Rios fails to land with a series of punches.
Reiss misses with a two punch combination.

Reiss clinches up with Rios and pushes him back against the cage.

Reiss gets a trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Reiss performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Reiss working over Rios with some ground and pound. Rios looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rios is trying to get back to full guard.
Rios tries to kick Reiss off but Reiss keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reiss decides to stand up.
Rios scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Manuel Rios is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Reiss shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rios counters with a stiff right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reiss tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Rios manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
It seemed like Rios was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Rios moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Reiss shoots in looking for a takedown but Rios manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Reiss's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johann Reiss. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reiss is breathing heavily.
Rios darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Rios misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Reiss walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Reiss doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Reiss takes one to the chin there.
Reiss doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Rios counters with a nice uppercut.
Reiss ducks right into an uppercut from Rios.
Johann Reiss seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Rios scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rios throws a shot to the body.
Reiss takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Rios lands with a right hand.
Rios throws a combination. Reiss tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Rios lands a slapping body shot.
Rios cracks Reiss with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Rios tests Reiss's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Rios with a hook.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Manuel Rios dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Rios lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Reiss's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rios connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Reiss scrambles back to his feet.
Rios ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Reiss moves away.
Rios blocks a head kick by Reiss.

Reiss has taken the fight to the clinch.
Reiss tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Rios just stands there and leans against the cage.

Reiss ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Reiss no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reiss is controlling Rios's posture.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Rios scores with a hook to the body. Reiss takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
A punch lands to the side of Reiss 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Rios misses with a two punch combination.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Rios, as that shot connected.

Reiss throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Rios tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Reiss is in Rios's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reiss trying to control the position from guard on top but Rios is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Rios is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Reiss dives into side control.
Reiss throwing shots but missing, from side control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reiss wants to control but Rios is keeping him busy.
Rios really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Reiss. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reiss postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Reiss has hold of Rios's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Rios seems comfortable defending it but Reiss has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Rios is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Rios is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Reiss couldn't care less - he's delighted!
