Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Akeem Lew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, David King!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circling - King throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Lew drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
King looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

King had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Lew defends it easily.

Lew is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Lew thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
King really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Lew. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Lew is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

That's one minute gone in the round.

King working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lew doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Lew manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

King has his foot on Lew's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lew works his way back into a safe position though.
Lew working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
King wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lew thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.
King is trying to keep Lew in close.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Lew gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and King counters with a straight right hand.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Lew slips a jab from King.
Lew moves out of range as King strikes.
It looked like Lew was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from King.
King swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Lew is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from King.
King misses with a straight left.
Lew takes a jab right on the kisser.
King looks to throw the jab but Lew is out of range.
Lew uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from King.
Lew slips a jab from King.
King misses with a wild body shot.
King lands with a good body shot.
Lew is breathing heavily.
Nice defenses there by Lew.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
King works Lew's body with a nice hook.
No luck for Lew with that takedown attempt.
King misses with a hook.
Lew uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from King.
A punch lands to the side of Lew 's head but he takes it in his stride.
King throws a body shot but no joy.
King lands with a right hand.
A slow jab from King misses its intended target.

King drives through and clinches with Lew against the cage.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

King escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
King lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
King misses with a looping right.
King lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
David King is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King connects with a body shot that sends Lew's belly button to the back.
King misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lew.
A looping hook to the body misses from King. Lew does a little dance to reset his feet.
A big right from King misses.
Lew is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from King.

King clinches with his opponent.

King manages to break the clinch.
King scores with a hook.
Nice straight punches there by King. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of King.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

David King dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


King lands a big right hand that sends Lew crashing to the mat! King stays standing though and waves Lew back to his feet!

Lew is rocked!
King lands with a good body shot.
Oh Lew is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lew shoots and misses
and King counters with a beautiful right hand that knocks Lew out cold! What a finish! King is going crazy, running around the mat, summersaulting off the corner posts and screaming into the cameras. Something tells me he's pretty happy!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:15 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). David King!
David King seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
