Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Ben Hornby (ranked 6133 p4p, 4663 weight class) and Dylan Appleby (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dylan Appleby will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ben Hornby! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dylan Appleby! The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Appleby shoots in for a double leg but Hornby sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Appleby lands a head kick. Hornby smiles back at him and beckons him forward. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Appleby. Hornby fails to land with a series of punches.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hornby crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Appleby - the referee stops the clock and Hornby gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Appleby. Hornby manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. Appleby shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hornby as he avoids it easily. Hornby wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch. Ben Hornby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dylan Appleby. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hornby leaves Appleby with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. An attempted straight right counter from Hornby misses the target. Appleby misses with a takedown and Hornby counters with a three punch combo that has Appleby backing up. Appleby nods at Hornby to acknowledge the strikes.
That's one minute gone in the round. Appleby misses with a left hand and Hornby counters with a lovely straight right hand! Appleby avoids a punch combination nicely.
Hornby stalks Appleby and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Appleby's face. Appleby staggers backwards, shaken. Appleby throws a left and a right that both miss
and Hornby counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hornby swinging wildly here.
Appleby closes the distance and clinches.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Appleby is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hornby to keep the fight standing. Hornby looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now. Appleby pulls Hornby into guard.

Appleby pulls Hornby in close to his closed guard and prevents Hornby from doing any damage or advancing position. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hornby trying to control but Appleby is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Appleby bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hornby's guard.
Hornby on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hornby tries to get out of the position. Appleby not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Appleby postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Appleby stays in close to Hornby's body and controls the position. Let's hope that Appleby has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Appleby decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Appleby is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Appleby pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Ben Hornby is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hornby misses with a series of wild punches.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Appleby rushes Hornby and presses him up against the cage. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Appleby throws a lazy body kick and Hornby counters with a one-two to the body. Appleby connects with a high kick. Appleby with a poor takedown letting Hornby counter with a right hand. Hornby throws a series of punches but Appleby moves out of range. Appleby lands with a cross. Appleby shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hornby as he avoids it easily. Appleby clinches up with Hornby and pushes him back against the cage. Appleby is trying to drag Hornby to the mat but Hornby just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Ben Hornby has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dylan Appleby.

Appleby is breathing heavily. Hornby stops a takedown attempt from Appleby.
Hornby wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Appleby escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Hornby looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Appleby shoots in but Hornby avoids the takedown attempt easily. A quick step to the side and Hornby tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Appleby closes the distance and pushes Hornby back into the cage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Appleby jumps guard and drags Hornby to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Hornby throwing strikes from guard but Appleby blocks nicely. Hornby has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Hornby won't allow Appleby to sweep him here. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Appleby is on top in guard.
Appleby is looking to work some ground and pound but Hornby has wrist control. Appleby won't allow Hornby to sweep him here. Appleby trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Hornby wants to get back to his feet but Appleby is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Appleby stopping the sweep attempt from Hornby. Appleby's corner is telling him to maintain position. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Appleby's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Appleby controlling from the top position. Appleby preventing the sweep. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Hornby wants to stand up but Appleby is controlling him.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Hornby slaps away a takedown attempt from Appleby, before circling back to the center of the mat. Dylan Appleby seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Appleby lets loose with a powerful body kick. Hornby will feel that in the morning. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Appleby misses with a double jab

That was a close second round but I would say that Ben Hornby will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Appleby has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hornby can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Appleby avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Hornby knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Appleby on the ground. Hornby showing good wrestling skills to control the position. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Appleby is adopting a defensive guard.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The fight moves into the clinch position. Appleby doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
