Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vern Vurris (ranked 1152 p4p, 3649 weight class) and StepOn Struve (ranked 147 p4p, 424 weight class). StepOn Struve will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vern Vurris! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, StepOn Struve! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vurris digs a good hook to Struve's body.
Vurris moves out of range of the body kick from Struve.
Struve's coach down at Cozad MMA New York was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Struve's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Struve walks into a left hand. Struve falls off balance throwing a combination
and Vurris counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Vurris is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Struve keeping moving, preventing Vurris from controlling successfully. Struve preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vurris is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Struve looking to control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vurris missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Vurris lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Vurris's corner is telling him to maintain position. Struve can't keep his opponent in guard - Vurris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Struve is trying to control but Vurris manages to pass to mount!
Struve taking shots to the head. We've been hearing that Vurris has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Vurris with good strikes from the mount here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vurris content just to control the position here. Vurris fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
It looks like StepOn Struve has been cut. Vurris controlling his opponent. Vurris postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Struve looks a forlorn figure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Vurris lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Struve! Vurris sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Struve and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Vern Vurris! After the fight, Vern Vurris was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly. In defeat, StepOn Struve stepped up to the mic, saying 'I quit! I got a modeling job in Cali'.
