Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Fox (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Kildahl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kildahl has chosen Sound of Madness as his entrance music. Michael Fox has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Sam Kildahl!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Jonathan Paton and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Kildahl or perhaps it was just good defense by Fox which made him look bad.
Fox throws a head kick that misses.
Fox scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Fox fails with an attempt to clinch.
Fox is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fox throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fox tries for a takedown but Kildahl circles away easily

and Kildahl counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Kildahl wants a takedown.
Kildahl stalling in the clinch but Fox improves position.
Fox is trying to drag Kildahl to the mat but Kildahl just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kildahl fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Michael Fox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sam Kildahl.
Kildahl tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Fox goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Kildahl drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fox pulls his leg out and moves away.

and Kildahl decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Fox's guard.
Fox is looking to sweep but instead, Kildahl has passed into half guard.

Fox is defending against the submission attempts here by Kildahl.
Fox wants to control but Kildahl is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Kildahl is looking for a kimura but Fox is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kildahl to get the leverage.
Fox really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Kildahl perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Fox is looking to control Kildahl's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fox avoid being mounted?

Kildahl tries to stand and escape but Fox is controlling the position.
Fox tries to roll over but Kildahl keeps him under control.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
The fight stays on the outside here - Fox looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Michael Fox seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fox closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fox lands in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fox trying to control but Kildahl is working from the bottom.

Fox keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kildahl's head.
Fox passes Kildahl's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Kildahl tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Kildahl gets back to half guard.
Fox is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Fox landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Fox wants to take a breather but Kildahl is having none of it.

Fox is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kildahl is just riding it out for now. Fox eventually gives up the hold.
Kildahl wants to control but Fox is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Fox dominated that round.
That's time! Fox's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Fox throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Kildahl.

Fox pushes Kildahl up against the cage in a clinch.
Fox is trying to drag Kildahl to the mat but Kildahl just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Kildahl prevents the takedown attempt.
Fox unloads a knee to the mid-section. Kildahl lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Kildahl gets underhooks to prevent Fox's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Fox. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fox tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kildahl smiles and moves away.

and Kildahl counters with a single leg into guard. Fox didn't expect that.
Kildahl is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Kildahl pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fox is keeping the position for now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Fox keeping moving, preventing Kildahl from controlling successfully.

Fox looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Kildahl passes into side control.
Fox tries to bench press Kildahl off him but Kildahl keeps the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Kildahl is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Fox has escaped the position, nice work there.
Kildahl wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fox keeps working.
Fox wants to control but Kildahl postures up.
Kildahl tries to advance to mount but Fox denies him.
I wouldn't like to be where Fox is right now.
Fox is not content to let Kildahl control the position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Fox holds on to Kildahl's head and controls the position momentarily.
An elbow from Kildahl crashes against the mat.
Fox prevents Kildahl from moving into mount.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Fox shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kildahl pinned against the cage. Kildahl gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kildahl goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Fox throws a front kick that sends Kildahl stumbling back into the cage.
Michael Fox is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Fox clinches up with Kildahl and pushes him back against the cage.

Fox has Kildahl pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Fox pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kildahl tumbling to the mat - Fox dives into Kildahl's guard.

Fox postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Fox stands up from Kildahl's guard - Fox perhaps looking for a knockout.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Sam Kildahl will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!

and Fox counters with a takedown into side control.
Kildahl tries to improve position but can't.

Fox decides to take the fight back to the feet.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kildahl.
Kildahl fails with an attempt to clinch.

Fox gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Fox manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fox trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Fox has his foot on Kildahl's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kildahl works his way back into a safe position though.

Kildahl trying to stand up but can't free himself from Fox's guard.
Fox lands some strikes from the bottom.

Kildahl decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fox, up you get!
Fox fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Kildahl misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Fox fails with a takedown attempt.
Kildahl tries to close the distance and clinch but Fox swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Some bone on bone action there as Fox checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Fox throws a lazy head kick

and Kildahl counters with a single leg into guard. Fox didn't expect that.
Fox tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Kildahl wants to control from the top but Fox keeps moving.
Fox wants to sweep but no luck.
Kildahl is looking to stand up but Fox won't let him.
Fox punching from the bottom - just letting Kildahl know he's still in a fight.

Fox keeping full guard, as Kildahl tries to pass.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Kildahl changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fox looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Kildahl has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Fox gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Fox has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kildahl can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Fox is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Kildahl won't allow Fox to sweep him here.

Fox has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kildahl off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Kildahl tries for a takedown but Fox sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
A low kick from Fox misses
and Kildahl counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Fox shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kildahl as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Fox. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fox throws a sloppy head kick and Kildahl moves out of range easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Sam Kildahl.
I think Kildahl has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
