PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Lamas (ranked 3089 p4p, 1735 weight class) and Lynton Miller (ranked 378 p4p, 234 weight class). Miller has chosen Tool - Sober as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frankie Lamas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 2, fighting out of Sydney, Lynton Miller!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Daniel Blasius and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Miller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Miller lands in his opponent's guard.
Miller throws a strike but Lamas rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Lamas gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Lamas manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Lamas throws a sloppy head kick and Miller moves out of range easily.
Miller throws an overhand right that lands on Lamas's shoulder, as Lamas tries to avoid the shot.

Miller ducks under a wild hook from Lamas.
Miller throws a body punch but Lamas moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Miller closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Miller postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The strikes coming from Miller are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Miller wants to control but Lamas is keeping him busy.

Lamas takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lamas keeps working.

Miller cracks Lamas with a big right hand but Lamas just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.

Miller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Miller is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lamas's shoulder. That is not cool.
Miller connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Lamas some visible discomfort.
Lamas is trying to buck Miller off.
Lamas is not content to let Miller control the position.
Lamas tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Miller grinds an elbow into Lamas's temple.
Miller lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Lamas down.

Lamas parries the strikes from Miller easily there. Miller is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lamas to escape.

That's time! Lamas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Miller misses with a looping right.
Miller throws a nice looking combination but Lamas bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
An attempted straight right counter from Lamas misses the target.

Miller gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Miller scores with a shoulder strike.
Miller has a couple of punches blocked by Lamas.

Lamas is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miller is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Lamas to the mat. Lamas regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Miller bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lamas's guard.

Miller swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Miller feints and as Lamas raises his hands in defense, Miller changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lamas has his feet on Miller's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Miller checks a leg kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Miller.
Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Lamas fails in his attempt to clinch.
The fight stays on the outside here - Lamas looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Lamas tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Miller manages to circle out of the way.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Lamas is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Miller tries to clinch but Lamas moves out of range.
As Miller tries to get set, Lamas tries to push him back and clinch up but Miller manages to avoid the attempt.

Miller is concentrating on defense, preventing Lamas from advancing position.

Miller won't allow Lamas to pass to mount.
Miller keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Miller wants to improve his position but Lamas is controlling well.

Lamas tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Miller.
Lamas prevents Miller from improving his position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Miller is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Lamas's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Lamas's back!

Miller struggling to land strikes to the head as Lamas covers up.
Miller connects with a big shot to the side of Lamas's head.
Lynton Miller is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The referee is taking a good look at Lamas as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Miller!
Miller just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Let's hope that Miller has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Frankie Lamas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Miller.

Well Miller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
