Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cordell Walker (ranked 25132 p4p, 4363 weight class) and Conor McGregor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by Eyes of a Ranger. McGregor has chosen The Foggy Dew as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cordell Walker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conor McGregor!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGregor throws a sloppy head kick and Walker moves out of range easily.
McGregor throws a combination that misses
and Walker counters with a left to the body.

McGregor forces Walker back against the cage and clinches.
Walker tries to stall but McGregor uses the opportunity to gain a better position.
Walker trying to control the position but instead, McGregor has worked for underhooks and has pushed Walker into the cage.
Walker blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Walker jumps guard and drags McGregor to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

McGregor stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Walker bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps McGregor's head backwards.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Walker gets caught napping as McGregor dives in and scores a takedown. Walker manages to retain guard.
McGregor wants to get up but he can't break Walker's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Walker is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

McGregor stands and steps away. Walker gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

McGregor darts in and clinches Walker up against the cage.
McGregor lands with a light punch inside.

McGregor throws a series of strikes that have Walker backpedaling.

It looks like Cordell Walker has been cut.
McGregor throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Walker was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
McGregor takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Walker looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

McGregor scores with a takedown into Walker's guard.
McGregor is looking to stand up but Walker won't let him.
Walker is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Walker is working an open guard so McGregor takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

McGregor clinches up with Walker and pushes him back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

McGregor breaks the clinch.
McGregor lands an overhand right.
McGregor keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

McGregor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
McGregor looks winded!
McGregor seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

McGregor decides to return to a standing position.
McGregor lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Walker backs up against the cage.
McGregor steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Walker.

McGregor rushes Walker and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

McGregor manages to break the clinch.
McGregor throws a right and a left that both miss.

Walker tries to keep at a distance but McGregor has taken the fight into the clinch.

McGregor escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

McGregor closes the distance and clinches.

McGregor breaks from the clinch.
A right-left combo lands from McGregor.
Walker jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
McGregor keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Walker.
McGregor ducks under a wild hook from Walker.

McGregor closes the distance and pushes Walker back into the cage.

McGregor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

McGregor closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Walker is trying to improve his position.

McGregor stands up and beckons Walker to his feet.

McGregor closes the distance and clinches.

McGregor breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
McGregor tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Walker was well out of range. Poor timing from McGregor.
Conor McGregor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
McGregor is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A jab from Walker misses.

McGregor has Walker up against the cage in a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Walker is trying to break free.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

McGregor gets control of Walker's arms and successfully pulls guard. McGregor will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Walker wants to control from the top but McGregor keeps moving.
McGregor wants to stand and escape but Walker is having none of it.
McGregor keeping full guard, as Walker tries to pass.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
McGregor wants to stand and escape but Walker is having none of it.
McGregor is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Walker wants to control from the top but McGregor keeps moving.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McGregor is looking to stand up but Walker isn't so interested in that idea.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Conor McGregor dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Cordell Walker's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

McGregor tries to bum rush Walker with a series of wild strikes but Walker uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Excellent takedown into side control there by McGregor.

McGregor stands up.

Walker closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McGregor is trying to buck Walker off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGregor tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
McGregor is trying to get back to his feet but Walker has full control of the position and if anything, McGregor has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Walker's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
McGregor is breathing heavily.

Conor McGregor has got the better of the ground game so far.
McGregor has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Walker trying to control momentarily.

McGregor is trying to defend against the choke here but Walker has an arm under his chin. This one might not last much longer. Walker Tightens the hold and McGregor taps out furiously! Walker displays superior BJJ to win the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Cordell Walker!
