PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruno Salvacion (ranked 23378 p4p, 23998 weight class) and Poison Ivy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Bruno Salvacion has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 22 - 1, fighting out of New York, Bruno Salvacion!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Poison Ivy!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Salvacion shoots in looking for a takedown but Ivy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Salvacion's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ivy counters with a body kick.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Ivy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ivy follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Salvacion fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And Ivy responds with a good body kick, but Salvacion manages to step out the way in time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bruno Salvacion. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Salvacion feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Salvacion trying to control but Ivy is working from the bottom.
Ivy is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Ivy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ivy is looking to sweep but instead, Salvacion has passed into half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Ivy is holding on to half guard well.
Ivy is trying to stand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ivy shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Salvacion but Salvacion pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Ivy goes for a double leg but Salvacion avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Salvacion continues to drive forward.

Ivy gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Salvacion is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Salvacion stops Ivy from standing up.

Ivy is controlling Salvacion's posture.
Salvacion trying to control the position from guard on top but Ivy is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ivy preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ivy wants to stand and escape but Salvacion is having none of it.

Ivy is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Salvacion shoots in but no luck this time.
Ivy tries to counter with a clinch but Salvacion shakes him off and moves away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Ivy closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Salvacion is trying to maintain the position but Ivy is very close to passing his half guard.

Ivy is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Salvacion holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Ivy tries to stand but his arm is trapped.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ivy.
Salvacion jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Salvacion shoots in for a double leg but Ivy sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Ivy counters with a body kick.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Salvacion shoots in for a takedown but Ivy shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Ivy is trying to counter with his kicks.
Salvacion shoots in and drives through. Ivy sprawls well.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ivy in particular looking to stall.
Ivy has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Salvacion works to full guard.
Ivy wants to stand but Salvacion has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Salvacion has Ivy pulled in close to control his posture.

Nice takedown defense from Ivy. No joy for Salvacion on that attempt.

and Ivy counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Poison Ivy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Salvacion stuffs the takedown attempt from Ivy. Ivy gets slowly back to his feet.

Salvacion fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ivy sprawls well initially but Salvacion persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ivy manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Salvacion shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ivy defends it nicely.

Salvacion can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ivy controls the pace.
Ivy has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Ivy. Salvacion shrugs it off though.

Ivy dives in and grabs Salvacion's left leg, looking for a takedown. Salvacion pushes down on Ivy's head and hops out.
Salvacion quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

And that's the end of the fight!
Poison Ivy comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ivy has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
