Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Tomson (ranked 1301 p4p, 1316 weight class) and Ronaldo Gomes (ranked 186 p4p, 191 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, John Kavanagh and Eddie Farnsworth.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tomson swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Gomes counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Tomson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Gomes was well out of range. Poor timing from Tomson.
Gomes tries to counter with a clinch but Tomson shakes him off and moves away.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gomes has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

and Tomson counters with a crisp one two that drops Gomes! Tomson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Gomes to his feet! Gomes is in big trouble!

Tomson feints and then cracks Gomes's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gomes down.
Tomson is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.
The crowd cheers as Tomson lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gomes doesn't seem phased though.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
