PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dick Army Jr (ranked 991 p4p, 429 weight class) and Principo Adam (ranked 144 p4p, 61 weight class). Adam has chosen Dona Eis Requiem as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dick Army Jr!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Principo Adam!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Adam bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here as Adam stalls from top position.
Adam tries to advance to mount but Army Jr denies him.
Adam trying to control the position but Army Jr is working away.

Adam tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Adam has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Adam wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Army Jr, who protects the arm well.

Adam is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Army Jr is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Adam thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Adam working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Adam wants to pass the guard but Army Jr is defending well.
Adam is stalling here. Army Jr is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Adam seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Army Jr has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Adam tries to buck Army Jr off but Army Jr is having none of it.
Adam manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
Adam is keen to just control but Army Jr is a slippery customer.

Adam tries to pass the half guard into mount. Army Jr knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Adam looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Army Jr makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Army Jr.

Adam is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Adam in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Principo Adam dominated that round.

We've been told by Army Jr's head coaches at Kalashnikov ELITE MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Army Jr moves into range and clinches up with Adam.
Adam blocks an uppercut.

Army Jr cracks Adam with a nice body shot.
Adam tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Army Jr's elbow.

Army Jr breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Army Jr wants to clinch up but Adam keeps it at a distance.
Adam tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Army Jr was well out of range. Poor timing from Adam.
Army Jr avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Army Jr doesn't manage to clinch there - Adam circles away.
Adam misses with a looping left.
Army Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Adam manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Dick Army Jr seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Army Jr takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Army Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Adam manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

enabling Adam to counter with a crisp jab.

and Adam cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Army Jr has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Army Jr there as he acknowledges the shot.

Army Jr ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Army Jr moves in looking to clinch but Adam pushes him off.
Adam takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

Adam now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

Army Jr throws a nice looking combination but Adam bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Adam lands with an uppercut that bounces Army Jr off the cage and back into range.

A nice left hand lands by Army Jr.
Army Jr misses with a short punch on the inside.
Army Jr tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Adam avoiding damage as Army Jr throws knees to the body.
Adam scores with a nice hook to the head.
Army Jr lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Adam is trying to force a seperation but Army Jr has the dominant position.

Adam escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Army Jr gets caught flat footed, as Adam shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Army Jr wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Adam manages to pass to side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Adam throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Army Jr is trying to stand.
Adam content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Army Jr is staying active underneath Adam, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Well, if Adam is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Army Jr tries to get to full guard but Adam has control of the leg.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Principo Adam will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Army Jr leaves Adam with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Adam avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Adam now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
A jab from Army Jr does it's job there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Adam. Army Jr does a little dance to reset his feet.

Adam circles away from the clinch attempt.

Adam lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Adam swats away the attempt to clinch by Army Jr.

so Adam counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Adam wants to control from the top but Army Jr keeps moving.
Adam postures up in Army Jr's guard and throws a big left but Army Jr blocks it.

Adam has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Adam passes easily into side control. Nice work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Adam goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Army Jr rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Adam's guard! Nice work there by Army Jr!

Adam had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Army Jr defends it easily.

Adam is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Army Jr would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Principo Adam is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Adam is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Dick Army Jr has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Army Jr wants to pass the guard but Adam is keeping the position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Adam is controlling Army Jr's posture.
Adam's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Army Jr trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Army Jr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Adam is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Army Jr misses with a hook.
Adam works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Army Jr moves in looking to clinch but Adam pushes him off.

And that's the end of the fight!
Principo Adam comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Adam winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Principo Adam decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
Dick Army Jr spoke after the fight, saying 'Sorry dad, please dont beat me!'.
