Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Francisco Babyara (ranked 1107 p4p, 3340 weight class) and Madik MBaku (ranked 153 p4p, 406 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

With a record of 18 - 17 - 0, fighting out of New York, Madik MBaku!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Babyara blocks a head kick by MBaku.
Babyara tries to counter by moving into the clinch but MBaku manages to circle out of the way.
Madik MBaku seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

MBaku fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Babyara, pushing him back against the cage.

Babyara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

MBaku thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Babyara wants to stand up but MBaku is controlling him.
MBaku wants to control from the top but Babyara keeps moving.
Babyara knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for MBaku on the ground.
Babyara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

MBaku drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and MBaku jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Babyara is looking to stand back up but MBaku counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Babyara.
Babyara wants to improve his position but MBaku is controlling well.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Madik MBaku dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


MBaku lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Babyara sprawling to the canvas. MBaku follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Babyara hang on?

Babyara is rocked!

MBaku has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Babyara defend it? MBaku steps over the head and cranks it - Babyara is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for MBaku!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:13 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Madik MBaku!
Madik MBaku decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
