PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ben Reed (ranked 577 p4p, 2626 weight class) and Edwin Lucan (ranked 82 p4p, 360 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Edwin Lucan!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lucan throws a one two combo.

It looks like Ben Reed has been cut.
Lucan lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Reed at a distance.

Reed steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lucan.
Lucan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Reed was well out of range. Poor timing from Lucan.

Lucan tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lucan throws a big shot that misses.
Lucan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Reed's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lucan under the eye.

Reed has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Reed seems keen to control Lucan's posture.

Lucan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Reed's head.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lucan working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.

Lucan is working Reed over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lucan is fighting to break Reed's control of his arms but Reed is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Reed utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Reed pulls Lucan in close to prevent any damage.

Reed really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Reed holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Ben Reed will probably get the nod.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Lucan throws a nice looking combination but Reed bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Reed fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Lucan.
Edwin Lucan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looked like Reed was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Reed steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lucan.

Lucan has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Reed.
Lucan looks to land a combination but Reed avoids it well.

Lucan is still on wobbly legs! Can Reed finish him?
Reed feints a jab and as Lucan dips his head, Reed unleashes a brutal head kick that catches Lucan right on the jaw! Timbeeer! Lucan falls backwards in slow motion, only propped up by the cage! Reed smiles a psychotic smile as he stares down his unconscious opponent. That is a scary man.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Ben Reed!
