Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar De La Hoya (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jamal Black has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamal Black! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Oscar De La Hoya! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, John Roberts and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De La Hoya misses with a two punch combination.
Black shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with De La Hoya but De La Hoya pushes him off and we're back to square one. Black showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from De La Hoya.
De La Hoya looks for a takedown but Black sprawls well. Black will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. De La Hoya tries for a takedown but Black sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Black swats away the attempt to clinch by De La Hoya. Black throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around De La Hoya's waist but De La Hoya gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Black off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamal Black. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nice sprawl there from De La Hoya as Black shoots in. Black looks for a takedown but De La Hoya sprawls well. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Black rushes De La Hoya and presses him up against the cage. De La Hoya is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Black tries for a takedown. No joy.
De La Hoya escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's one minute gone in the round. De La Hoya throws a jab but it's blocked by Black. Black gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Black is trying to work for a single leg takedown but De La Hoya pulls him back up using the underhooks. De La Hoya is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Black pulls guard effortlessly. Black is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Black looking for a sweep. Not yet Black, not yet. De La Hoya tries to stand but Black is controlling from the bottom. Black trying to strike off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Black pulls De La Hoya in close to his closed guard and prevents De La Hoya from doing any damage or advancing position. De La Hoya wants to stand but Black has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Black has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but De La Hoya can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Black is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black tries to land a sweep but no joy. De La Hoya postures up.
De La Hoya wants to get up but he can't break Black's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Black wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Black is working hard here to advance position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. De La Hoya misses with the combination.
De La Hoya lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Black backs up against the cage.
De La Hoya cracks Black with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. De La Hoya misses with a wild combination.
De La Hoya tries to clinch up and Black counters with a nice double leg into side control. De La Hoya won't be happy with that. De La Hoya is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Black works to advance to full mount. De La Hoya defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jamal Black dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Black lands with a kick to the temple. De La Hoya shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Black darts in and clinches De La Hoya up against the cage. Black escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
De La Hoya throws a right and a left that Black avoids nicely. Black scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if De La Hoya can do anything to dispel that myth. Black is staying tight to De La Hoya's torso, preventing him from escaping. De La Hoya is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Black is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. De La Hoya knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Black wants to lay and pray for a moment but De La Hoya keeps working. De La Hoya is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Black has just dragged him back down to the mat.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Black is looking to take a break and control but De La Hoya is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. De La Hoya is trying to get back to his feet. De La Hoya really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Danga de danga de dang - De La Hoya scores with a four punch combination! Black throws a quick inside leg kick. Jamal Black is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. De La Hoya lands a jab-cross combination.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Black lands in his opponent's guard. Black thows a big elbow that misses. Black trying to control the position from guard on top but De La Hoya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Black won't allow De La Hoya to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. De La Hoya keeping full guard, as Black tries to pass. Black will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Black trying to control the position from guard on top but De La Hoya is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Black trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. De La Hoya is looking to stand up but Black isn't so interested in that idea. De La Hoya can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Black controls the pace. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jamal Black dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Black swings for the body but De La Hoya moves out of range.
Black looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? De La Hoya is fending him off so far but Black persists. Nope, De La Hoya circles away and we're back to standing. De La Hoya misses with a few strikes there.
Black darts in and clinches De La Hoya up against the cage. De La Hoya is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag De La Hoya down to the mat. De La Hoya avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. De La Hoya connects with the punch. Black has closed the distance and engaged De La Hoya in a clinch.
Black goes for a takedown attempt but De La Hoya pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamal Black. That's going to take a lot out of him. De La Hoya shoots in but no luck this time. De La Hoya lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. De La Hoya fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Black takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
That's one minute gone in the round. A punch combination from Black misses. De La Hoya swats away the attempt to clinch by Black. De La Hoya closes the distance and lands a one-two. De La Hoya throws a series of punches but Black moves out of range. De La Hoya jabbing away but nothing is landing. Black takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
De La Hoya throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Black changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De La Hoya tries to avoid it but Black manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De La Hoya to the ground. De La Hoya escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. De La Hoya scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Black lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but De La Hoya circles away quickly and effectively. De La Hoya is looking to clinch. De La Hoya keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Black throws a combination but it was largely blocked by De La Hoya.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Black misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. De La Hoya throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
De La Hoya misses with the combination.
Nice takedown defense from De La Hoya. No joy for Black on that attempt. Black scores with a takedown into De La Hoya's guard. De La Hoya wants to get back to his feet but Black is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Black pushing down on De La Hoya's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Black controlling the pace. Black tries to stand but can't do so whilst De La Hoya controls his leg. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Black is trying to control the action in half guard but De La Hoya is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Black looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
De La Hoya is looking to get back to is feet but Black passes into side control.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Oscar De La Hoya. I think Black has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
