Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Don Smith (ranked 6722 p4p, 3093 weight class) and Otto Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Smith might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Hold on to the vision. Don Smith had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Don Smith! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Otto Diaz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Santiago Holmes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith fails with the takedown. Diaz closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smith circles away. Smith has a takedown stuffed. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Don Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him. Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Smith tries to counter with a takedown but Diaz is quick to defend against it. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diaz swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Diaz goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo. Diaz tries a head kick but it misses.
Smith attempts a counter takedown but Diaz avoids it well and moves away. Diaz slaps away a takedown attempt from Smith, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Diaz has momentary wrist control but Smith slips an elbow through the middle. Diaz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Smith gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Diaz falls off balance throwing a combination
and Smith counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Smith. Diaz being controlled here, momentarily. Smith drops back looking for a leg! Diaz is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Diaz manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Diaz's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Smith sitting in guard, not really doing much. Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Smith lands a couple of decent looking shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Smith lands a couple of digs. Smith makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Diaz controls Smith momentarily but Smith frees himself. Diaz wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment. Smith is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Smith controls from within his opponent's guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Further stalling from Smith. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz tries to clinch and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Smith is stalling in the full guard. Smith controls from within his opponent's guard. Smith seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Diaz for as long as he can get away with.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Smith sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Smith half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Diaz sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Left hook, right uppercut from Diaz. Diaz has his takedown stuffed and Smith counters with a big takedown. That's hurt Diaz! Smith smells blood and goes in for the kill. Serveral hard shots later and the ref calls an end to the fight by TKO!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Don Smith! A less than humble Don Smith misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
