Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hick Diaz (ranked 3174 p4p, 2821 weight class) and Tim Horton (ranked 440 p4p, 400 weight class). Tim Horton will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horton connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.

Horton gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Diaz to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Diaz thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Horton comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Diaz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Diaz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Diaz goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Horton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Diaz but great work by Horton.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Diaz is not content to let Horton control the position.
Diaz sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hick Diaz will probably get the nod.

Horton scores with a one two! Diaz had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

BOOM! Horton lands a beautiful left hook that drops Diaz. Diaz tries to recover but Horton is having none of it, landing more punishing shots from mount. One final crushing shot and Diaz lies motionless on the canvas. The fight is over!
