Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Shane Sinclaire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Gonzales! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gonzales sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Sinclaire to the ground! Gonzales dives into full mount looking to finish!
It looks like Shane Sinclaire has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sinclaire is trying to reverse the position but instead Gonzales has taken his back - oops! Sinclaire tries to break free.
Sinclaire is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet. Sinclaire rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Gonzales looks gassed! Sinclaire wants to get back to full guard.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Sinclaire changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gonzales looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sinclaire decides to stand back up. Sinclaire steps back and let's Gonzales get back to his feet. Sinclaire throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gonzales's waist but Gonzales gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Sinclaire off to one side.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sinclaire fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Gonzales has managed to clinch.
Gonzales manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Sinclaire thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Sinclaire drops back, looking for a kneebar! Gonzales looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Gonzales looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Gonzales! Sinclaire is looking to reverse the position. Sinclaire regains half guard. Sinclaire wants to improve his position but Gonzales is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Gonzales stops Sinclaire from getting back to his feet.
Sinclaire is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Gonzales pulls his head out easily. Sinclaire looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Sinclaire regains full guard. Nicely done. Gonzales is sitting in close to Sinclaire's body. Sinclaire has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Gonzales is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Gonzales is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Sinclaire.
