The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smalls throws an overhand right that lands on Yamamoto's shoulder, as Yamamoto tries to avoid the shot.
Yamamoto throws a sloppy head kick and Smalls moves out of range easily.
Yamamoto is looking to slow Smalls down with leg kicks.
Yamamoto fakes the leg kick and cracks Smalls in the body.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Yamamoto is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Smalls's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Smalls's back!

That was a close round but I would say that Kanye Yamamoto will probably get the nod.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Yamamoto drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Yamamoto jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
