PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Eddie Bravo (ranked 3745 p4p, 3857 weight class) and Sun Flower (ranked 439 p4p, 448 weight class). Sun Flower told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eddie Bravo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sun Flower!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flower feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Bravos jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Flower lands a really nice looking cross but Bravo seems unphased.
Bravo slips under a jab from Flower.
Bravo ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Bravo walks into a straight right hand from Flower.
Flower throws out a loose jab but Bravo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Bravo keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Bravo throwing a counter right hand but Flower manages to avoid it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bravo takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Flower scores with the left hand. Bravo knows he should have avoided that one.
Flower throws a right hand that Bravo ducks under and follows up with a left that Bravo also avoids with ease.
Bravo attempts a counter takedown but Flower avoids it well and moves away.
Flower misses with a lunging right hand

and Bravo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Bravo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Flower swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Flower not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Bravo pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Flower is keeping the position for now.
Bravo is working hard here to advance position.
Bravo passes into half guard.

Bravo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Flower is just riding it out for now. Bravo eventually gives up the hold.

Bravo is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bravo looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bravo seems to be working for a kimura but Flower defends the submission attempt.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Bravo is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Flower has managed to free his arm - good work.
Bravo is looking to advance position but Flower won't allow it.
Flower felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Bravo is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Flower defends it well.
Flower is trying to maintain the position but Bravo is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bravo wants to work for an arm triangle but Flower is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A close round but Sun Flower will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

No joy there for Flower, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Flower is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Bravo.

Sun Flower seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Flower fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Bravo gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Flower fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.

Flower lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Flower rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bravo moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Bravo is looking light on his feet compared to last time was saw him fight.

Flower lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bravo circles away quickly and effectively.
Bravo tries to counter with a takedown but Flower is quick to defend against it.
A telegraphed right hand from Flower misses the target.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Flower scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Flower connects with a nice looking jab.

Bravo is rocked!
Flower scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Flower has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Flower throws a lazy right hand but Bravo sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Flower throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Bravo on the side of the head.
Oh Bravo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Flower cracks Bravo with a hook to the temple - Bravo is on wobbly legs here! Flower swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Bravo falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Flower wins by TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sun Flower!
