Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Lahey (ranked 2168 p4p, 1552 weight class) and Michael Bostic (ranked 220 p4p, 164 weight class). Bostic has chosen Move as his entrance music. Jim Lahey has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jim Lahey! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Michael Bostic! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Steve Smith and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bostic throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Lahey tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bostic is in Lahey's guard. Lahey is pulling down on Bostic's head. It's preventing any offense from Bostic, at least for the moment. Bostic loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Bostic trying to control but Lahey is working from the bottom. Lahey knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bostic on the ground. Bostic lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bostic's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Bostic scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Lahey will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Bostic throwing strikes from guard but Lahey blocks nicely. Bostic throws an elbow that misses. Lahey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Bostic's guard. Nice move by Lahey!
That's one minute gone in the round. Bostic is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lahey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Lahey looking to pass the guard. Bostic looking for a sweep. Not yet Bostic, not yet. Bostic has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Lahey is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Bostic. Bostic is trying to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lahey slows the pace down. Bostic sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Bostic slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Bostic has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Bostic is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lahey stopping the sweep attempt from Bostic.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lahey is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Bostic looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lahey trying to control the position from guard on top but Bostic is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bostic trying to control the position here. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Bostic throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Lahey content to stall in guard here.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Bostic shoots in and drives through. Lahey sprawls well. A telegraphed right hand from Lahey misses the target. Bostic swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Bostic on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Lahey really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Bostic tries for a takedown but Lahey circles away easily and Lahey counters with a nice uppercut. Bostic scores with a takedown into Lahey's guard. Bostic missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Bostic working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Bostic throwing strikes but missing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Bostic wants to control from the top but Lahey keeps moving. Bostic is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Michael Bostic dominated that round. That's time! Lahey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Horrible takedown attempt by Bostic or perhaps it was just good defense by Lahey, which made it look bad. Lahey was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Bostic misses with a takedown and Lahey cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. A big right from Lahey misses. Bostic misses with a takedown and Bostic takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Bostic is rocked! Jim Lahey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Bostic. Lahey scores with a jab to the body. Bostic is still on wobbly legs! Can Lahey finish him? Bostic tries to get into range but Lahey steps to the side and lands a beautiful hook that drops Bostic! He's faceplanted into the mat, ass in the air... he's out cold! That's an image he won't want to show his grandkids when he gets older! Lahey scores the big KO victory!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jim Lahey! Jim Lahey is the new featherweight champion! Post fight, Jim Lahey stared into the camera and said 'Nothings wrong with a lil drink from time to time. Without the liquor whats the point. Im getting a little thirsty right now. Randy lets hit the LC bud.'.
