Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tyson James (ranked 1497 p4p, 3133 weight class) and Jack Steel (ranked 193 p4p, 372 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 24 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tyson James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jack Steel! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Seu Braga and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James with a poor takedown and Steel counters with a head kick. That will keep James thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! A low kick lands for Steel.
Steel with the inside leg kick. James feints and as Steel raises his hands in defense, James changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. James won't allow Steel to get back to his feet. James wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. James trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. James trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom. James thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Steel can do anything to dispel that myth. James wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. James shoots for a takedown but Steel saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. James tries for a takedown but Steel circles away easily and Steel counters with a low kick, right behind James 's knee. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tyson James. That's going to take a lot out of him. Steel lands a glancing blow to the side of James's head. James fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Despite the aggression on Steel's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. James takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Steel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Steel lands a jab to James's midsection. James definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. James misses with a takedown letting Steel counter with a right hand. James looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Steel throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck James on the side of the head. James shoots in and drives through. Steel sprawls well. Tyson James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. James tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Steel swivels and escapes. Steel is clearly looking to counter with head kicks. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! James tries for a takedown but Steel sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James. A head kick by Steel misses so James counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Steel being controlled here, momentarily. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. James throws a big elbow that misses. Steel looking to control.

James might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Steel is controlling James's posture. Steel has momentary wrist control but James slips an elbow through the middle. Steel wants to stand up but James is controlling him. James controlling from the top position. Steel really doesn't want to stay on the ground with James. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. James won't allow Steel to get back to his feet. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. James trying to control the position from guard on top but Steel is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Steel displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Steel gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard. Steel is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. James cracks Steel with a solid left hand. Steel looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Jack Steel dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. James shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Steel as he jumps to the side. A momentary lapse in concentration from Steel enables James to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Steel manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Steel has been the more effective fighter overall so far. James in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. James has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. James chips away with some ground and pound. Steel keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully. James throws a big right hand that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Steel is trying to control the position from the bottom.
James stops Steel from standing up. James stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Steel swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel is looking to stand up but James isn't so interested in that idea. James postures up in Steel's guard and throws a big left but Steel blocks it. Steel has his hands on James's head, controlling the position. Steel is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. James throwing strikes but missing. Steel looking for a sweep. Not yet Steel, not yet. James is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Steel seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Horrible takedown attempt by James or perhaps it was just good defense by Steel, which made it look bad.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. James needs to keep his hands up - Steel had a free shot at his head there. James is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Steel's half guard. James working the head and body with strikes. Tyson James overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. James thows a huge punch but Steel dodges it nicely.
The fighters are battling for position here. Steel manages to regain full guard. Nice work. James wants to control from the top but Steel keeps moving. Steel tries to land a sweep but no joy. Steel manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. James keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Steel digs a right hand underneath James's ribcage. James let out a lung full of air as it connected. Steel struggles to land a body shot inside as James controls his hands.
A short right from Steel on the inside. Steel lands a right hand. Steel's coach down at Navy Street MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Steel's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Steel's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. James shoots in for a takedown and gets it. James missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Steel lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Steel content to stall in guard here. Steel wants to control from the top but James keeps moving. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as James holds on and takes a little breather. Steel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. James swivels though and keeps the full guard. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Jack Steel will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round! James with a lazy takedown attempt and Steel counters with a right hand to the body. Steel has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Steel throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and James counters with a nice double leg into side control. Steel won't be happy with that. James is looking to take a break and control but Steel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Steel is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, James asserts his dominance and retains side control. James is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Steel has escaped the position, nice work there. Steel is not content to let James control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Steel pushes James away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, James gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Steel is not content to let James control the position. Steel wants to get back to his feet. Steel tries to get back to half guard but can't. An elbow from James crashes against the mat.
James thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Steel struggling a bit here. Steel tries to buck James off but James is having none of it. Jack Steel is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. James landing strikes.
It looks like Jack Steel has been cut. James tries for a kimura but Steel is defending well. James is trying to get an arm triangle but Steel is defending well. Steel throws a wild body kick that James sees coming a mile off. Jack Steel seems to be getting the better of the standup. James is trying hard to land a takedown here. Steel sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Steel throws a nice outside leg kick. Steel dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from James. James shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Steel counters with a straight right hand. Tyson James has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. James tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Steel defends well and James ends up having to push Steel into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. James drops down looking for an ankle pick but Steel pulls his leg out and moves away.
Both fighters are breathing heavily. Steel lands with a hook. James tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. A head kick from Steel lands but James takes it in his stride. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Steel scores with a nice right hand.
Steel stuns James with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. James walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. James swings and misses with a shot to the body and Steel counters with a lovely straight right hand! Steel looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
And that's the end of the fight! Jack Steel comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Steel winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
