PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chase Stevens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zell Dintch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stevens comes into the arena with I Look Good blaring out of the sound system. On his way into the cage it seems that Chase Stevens has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chase Stevens seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Chase Stevens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zell Dintch!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Trevor Gratis and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dintch changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stevens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Stevens tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Stevens gets back to half guard.
Stevens is looking to escape.
Stevens on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Dintch missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Stevens wants to get back to full guard.
Dintch content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Dintch wants to control but Stevens is keeping him busy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Dintch working Stevens over with strikes.
Dintch throws a strike but Stevens avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Stevens is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Stevens wants to stand and escape but Dintch is having none of it.
Dintch throwing strikes from guard but Stevens blocks nicely.
Stevens is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Stevens tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Dintch sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Stevens's guard.
Dintch controlling the action here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dintch looks gassed!
Dintch tries to stand but can't do so whilst Stevens controls his leg.
Stevens wants to improve his position but Dintch is controlling well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dintch blocks the strikes from Stevens.
Dintch thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Stevens's head.
Stevens is staying active underneath Dintch, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Stevens is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Dintch pulls his head out easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dintch fails with the takedown.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stevens tries to clinch up but Dintch circles away and keeps his distance.
Stevens tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stevens throws a nice head kick!
Dintch keeps the fight on the outside.
Stevens tries to clinch but Dintch is having none of it.
Stevens misses with a head kick.

Stevens pushes Dintch up against the cage in a clinch.
Dintch wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Stevens has him pressed against the cage.

Dintch escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Stevens closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Dintch tries for a takedown but Stevens manages to get underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zell Dintch will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!


Stevens shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Dintch counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stevens won't be happy with that.
Dintch sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Stevens is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Dintch is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Stevens is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
You can see the frustration on Stevens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Stevens tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Dintch wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Stevens tries to escape but Dintch is in control.

Dintch thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Stevens fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Stevens looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Dintch is fending him off so far but Stevens persists. Nope, Dintch circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Dintch forces Stevens back against the cage and clinches.

Dintch has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Stevens regains guard immediately.
Stevens is trying to control the position but Dintch postures up.
Stevens tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Dintch stands up from guard. Let's bang!

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Dintch takes the fight into the clinch.
Dintch can't get the takedown.
Stevens is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Dintch pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Stevens throws a head kick that Dintch semi-blocks.
Dintch misses the shot to the body.
Dintch stuffs the takedown.

Dintch shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Nice strikes from Dintch there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Dintch sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Stevens defending well though.
Dintch tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Stevens.
Stevens moves into full guard.
Dintch landing with the ground and pound.
Stevens bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dintch's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zell Dintch showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Stevens's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Stevens is looking to control Dintch's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stevens avoid being mounted?

Stevens works his way to full guard. Good work.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Dintch wants to stand but Stevens has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Dintch wants to pass the guard but Stevens is keeping the position.
Dintch postures up.
Dintch wants to control from the top but Stevens keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Dintch takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.
Stevens misses with a takedown attempt

and Dintch counters with a takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Dintch tries for a kimura but Stevens is defending well.
Stevens struggling a bit here.
Stevens is looking for a sweep.
Stevens is trying to escape and get back to his feet.

Dintch decides to stand up, so the ref orders Stevens to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Dintch throws and low kick but Stevens moves out of range easily.
Stevens tries to close the distance and clinch but Dintch swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dintch fails with the takedown
and Stevens counters with a head kick. That will keep Dintch thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Dintch gets the takedown into side control.

Dintch decides to stand back up. Dintch steps back and let's Stevens get back to his feet.
Stevens fails with an attempt to clinch.

Dintch drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Dintch decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Dintch scores with a decent looking hook.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Stevens gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Dintch decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stevens's guard.
Chase Stevens has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Zell Dintch is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chase Stevens. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
