PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kwame Redcliffe (ranked 2944 p4p, 3884 weight class) and Zachary Neer Neer (ranked 375 p4p, 446 weight class). Redcliffe's entrance music is Close Your Eyes (And Count To F**k). A fine choice. Neer comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Back In Black kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Zachary Neer Neer has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Zachary Neer Neer!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Lou da Vinci and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Redcliffe throws an off balance right hand

so Neer counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Redcliffe has his feet on Neer's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Neer.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Redcliffe is looking to regain half guard here but Neer keeps moving and retains side control.
Redcliffe is working hard here to advance position.
Redcliffe can't do much from the bottom here.
Redcliffe's coaches at Fist of Fury Training Center have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Neer tries for a kimura but Redcliffe is defending well.
Neer is looking to take a break and control but Redcliffe is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Neer is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Redcliffe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Neer passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Redcliffe!

Neer working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Redcliffe sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Redcliffe is refusing to be controlled, as Neer sits in half guard.

Neer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Neer is looking for a kimura here.
Neer wants to take a breather but Redcliffe is having none of it.
Redcliffe moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Redcliffe wants to stand and escape but Neer is having none of it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zachary Neer Neer will probably get the nod.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!

Redcliffe throws a lazy right hand but Neer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Neer tries to counter with a clinch but Redcliffe shakes him off and moves away.
Neer shoots in but no luck this time.
Redcliffe swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Redcliffe throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Neer shoots in looking for a takedown. Redcliffe tries to sprawl out of it but Neer keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Redcliffe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Neer has his takedown stuffed
and Redcliffe makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Kwame Redcliffe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zachary Neer Neer.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Redcliffe throws a leg kick but Neer sees it coming and moves out of range.
Neer wants to counter with a clinch but Redcliffe pushes him away.
Neer with a poor takedown
and Redcliffe cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Neer walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Redcliffe looks to throw the jab but Neer is out of range.
Neer tries for a takedown but Redcliffe sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
A counter left hand to the body from Redcliffe misses its target.

Neer shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Neer seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Neer drops an elbow to the side of Redcliffe's head.
Redcliffe controlling the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neer thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Redcliffe keeping control of the position.

Neer is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Redcliffe has managed to free his arm - good work.
Neer is trying to control the action in half guard but Redcliffe is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Neer looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Redcliffe is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Neer is looking to stall here but Redcliffe recovers full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kwame Redcliffe dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Neer shoots in looking for a takedown but Redcliffe manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Neer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Neer throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Redcliffe tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Neer is in Redcliffe's guard.
Redcliffe has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Neer working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Redcliffe's head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Redcliffe managing to control the position.

Redcliffe looking to control.
Neer in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Neer loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Redcliffe trying to keep a closed guard but Neer is proving a slippery customer.
Neer stops Redcliffe from standing up.
Neer cracks Redcliffe with a solid left hand.
Redcliffe looking for a sweep. Not yet Redcliffe, not yet.
Redcliffe utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Redcliffe has Neer pulled in close to control his posture.
Redcliffe wants to sweep here but Neer controlling him for the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Neer trying to control the position from guard on top but Redcliffe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
A combination from Neer does no damage.
A nice leg kick lands there from Redcliffe.
Redcliffe lands with a hook. Neer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Neer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Neer takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kwame Redcliffe.
I think Redcliffe has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Zachary Neer Neer really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Overeem’s Horse Meat logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
