Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Pete Ashworth! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mateusz Strzyga! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Chris Dean and Hugh Johnson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fight moves into the clinch position. Strzyga has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Ashworth is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Strzyga is trying to drag Ashworth to the mat but Ashworth just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Ashworth breaks from the clinch.
Ashworth scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Strzyga wants to get back to full guard. Strzyga is not content to let Ashworth control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Strzyga is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Ashworth pulls his head out easily. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Ashworth in particular looking to stall. Strzyga looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ashworth content to control rather than advance. Ashworth lands with a punch from half guard. Ashworth content to control rather than advance. Strzyga actively working from the bottom here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ashworth stops Strzyga from getting back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Strzyga has hold of Ashworth's hands but Ashworth slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Ashworth landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Strzyga looking for submissions off his back. Strzyga looks winded! Ashworth looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Ashworth is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Ashworth working Strzyga over with strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Strzyga looking for a kimura from the bottom but Ashworth passes into side control! Ashworth is staying tight to Strzyga's torso, preventing him from escaping. Ashworth is working to tighten his grip on Strzyga's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Strzyga has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Ashworth is really squeezing tight and eventually Strzyga passes out! Ashworth breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
