This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 12 losses; Harry Hirsch! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 17 wins and 11 losses; Steel Grappler!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Jonathan Paton.


The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way.

Grappler tries to keep at a distance but Hirsch has taken the fight into the clinch.
Grappler is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hirsch to keep the fight standing.

Hirsch pulls guard.
Hirsch looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Hirsch is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hirsch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Grappler postures up.
Hirsch has control of Grappler's left arm, preventing Grappler from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hirsch tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hirsch has his foot on Grappler's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Grappler works his way back into a safe position though.

Hirsch controls Grappler momentarily but Grappler frees himself.
Hirsch is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hirsch holds on and takes a little breather.
Hirsch's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Grappler has his hands clasped together around Hirsch's back. He's all about the action.
Hirsch takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Grappler has a hand on Hirsch's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hirsch takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hirsch tries to get the hooks in deep but Grappler pushed the leg off.
Hirsch has good solid back control here.
Hirsch seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Grappler is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hirsch.

Hirsch looking to break Grappler's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Grappler remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Hirsch will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Grappler is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hirsch gets his way!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hirsch keeps control of the position easily here as Grappler tries to buck him off.
Hirsch has the hooks in. Grappler is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Hirsch is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.
Grappler tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Hirsch wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Grappler holds on to Hirsch as tight as he can, avoiding damage.

Grappler tries to lock up and control but Hirsch gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hirsch has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hirsch is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Grappler is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Grappler manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Grappler makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Grappler.
Hirsch stays in close to Grappler's body and controls the position.
Hirsch tries to free his leg and advance position but Grappler is retaining full guard.
Hirsch wants to control from the top but Grappler keeps moving.
Hirsch sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grappler's guard.

Hirsch is controlling the pace.
Grappler is not content to let Hirsch control the position.

Grappler keeping hold of Hirsch's head, controlling as best he can.

Hirsch wants to lay and pray for a moment but Grappler keeps working.
Grappler is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hirsch jumps into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Grappler is keen to just control but Hirsch is a slippery customer.

Hirsch is looking for a sweep. Grappler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Grappler wants to control but Hirsch is keeping him busy.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hirsch takes the fight on points by 11 to 5.
