Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, William Bestan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joaquin Lucaz!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Alexandre Firmino and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bestan moves into range and clinches up with Lucaz.
Bestan is looking for a takedown.
Bestan drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lucaz gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Bestan stops a takedown attempt from Lucaz.

Lucaz successfully pulls guard.
Bestan has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lucaz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Bestan trying to control but Lucaz is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lucaz wants to sweep but no luck.
Lucaz controls Bestan momentarily but Bestan frees himself.

Bestan is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Bestan knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lucaz on the ground.
Lucaz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lucaz keeping moving, preventing Bestan from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lucaz looking for a sweep. Not yet Lucaz, not yet.

Bestan thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Bestan won't allow Lucaz to get back to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Bestan wants to pass the guard but Lucaz is keeping the position.
Bestan preventing the sweep.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Bestan instigates a clinch.
Lucaz can't get the takedown.
Lucaz trying to control the position but instead, Bestan has worked for underhooks and has pushed Lucaz into the cage.
Lucaz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bestan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
William Bestan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joaquin Lucaz.

Lucaz ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Lucaz no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Bestan looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Bestan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lucaz swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bestan wants to control from the top but Lucaz keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bestan is really struggling to control Lucaz but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Bestan won't allow Lucaz to get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Lucaz looking for a sweep. Not yet Lucaz, not yet.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Bestan postures up and lands a big shot to Lucaz's brow.
Lucaz keeping full guard, as Bestan tries to pass.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Lucaz moves into the clinch successfully.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Lucaz has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Bestan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Lucaz scores a nice knee to the body.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Joaquin Lucaz dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Lucaz gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lucaz wriggles free and stands up.
Bestan keeps the fight on the outside.

Bestan shoots in and bounces Lucaz off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Lucaz looking to hit a scissor sweep but Bestan is one step ahead there.
Lucaz keeping full guard, as Bestan tries to pass.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bestan trying to stand up but can't free himself from Lucaz's guard.

Lucaz is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Bestan has his hands clasped together but Lucaz extends and breaks Bestan's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lucaz.
