In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 4 losses; Jake Reaper! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 2 losses; Kron Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Reaper shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Gracie sprawls well. Gracie wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Reaper gets slowly back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Gracie wants to take the fight to the mat but Reaper manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Gracie is trying to drag Reaper to the mat but Reaper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Gracie goes for a takedown in the clinch but Reaper prevents it.
Jake Reaper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kron Gracie.

Gracie has clasped his hands together around Reaper's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

My spies in HELLCADEMY inform me that Gracie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Gracie is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Reaper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Gracie's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

It looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Reaper wants to control but Gracie postures up.
Reaper is looking to reverse the position.
Gracie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Reaper will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

More stalling from Gracie.
Reaper is trying to get back to half guard.

Reaper has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Reaper wants to control but Gracie postures up.

Gracie has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Reaper is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gracie yanks on the arm and Reaper is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gracie.
