Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kelvin Shum (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Monk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kelvin Shum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ryan Monk! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Monk misses with a jab, cross combination.
Shum will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Monk walks into a stiff left hand from Shum. Shum lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Monk sprawling to the canvas. Shum follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Monk hang on?
Monk is rocked!
It looks like Ryan Monk has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Shum stalling. Monk is still on wobbly legs! Can Shum finish him? Monk seems to have recovered his senses. Monk should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round. Monk has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Shum is working away from the top position though.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Monk is staying active underneath Shum, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Shum is taking a breather. Monk says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Monk tries to roll over but Shum keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shum slows the pace down in half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Monk is trying to control but Shum manages to pass to mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Shum controlling his opponent. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kelvin Shum dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ryan Monk's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Monk shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Shum darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Shum lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Monk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shum but Shum pushes him off and we're back to square one. Shum shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Monk's guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee stands the fighters back up. Kelvin Shum just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Monk walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Monk drops his hands momentarily and Shum takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. A combination from Shum does no damage. Shum clobbers Monk with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Monk is rocked! Nice sprawl there from Shum as Monk shoots in. Monk is still on wobbly legs! Can Shum finish him? Kelvin Shum has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Monk. Monk misses the jab. Monk seems to have recovered his senses. Shum drives through and clinches with Monk against the cage.
Shum scores with an uppercut up the middle. Monk wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Shum softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Still in the clinch, Shum scores with a nice short uppercut. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Shum. Shum successfully pulls guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Monk preventing the sweep. Shum managing to control the position. Shum looking for a sweep. Not yet Shum, not yet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shum is working hard here to advance position. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Shum is on top in guard.
Monk has control of Shum's left arm, preventing Shum from doing any damage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Shum controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Monk tries to land a sweep but no joy. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shum trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kelvin Shum dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Ryan Monk's cut. That's time! Shum's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Monk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Shum shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Shum was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Monk tries to lock up and control but Shum gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Monk is trying to keep from getting into a worse position than he's already in but Monk is working away and isn't letting himself get tied up. Shum sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Monk really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Monk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Monk tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shum controlling from mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shum can do anything to dispel that myth. Monk is looking to get to half guard. Shum controlling from the full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shum prevents Monk from getting the reversal. Shum controlling his opponent. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Monk wants to control but Shum is having none of it.
And that's the end of the fight! Kelvin Shum showed his dominance in that final round. Well Shum has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
