Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nikolaos Aetos (ranked 4342 p4p, 3871 weight class) and Putin Boy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putin Boy will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Putin Boy!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Dmitry Maklakov and Viktor Lagutenko.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Boy misses with a straight left.
Aetos appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Boy paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Boy throws a left and a right that both miss

so Aetos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Aetos drops back looking for a leg! Boy is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Boy manages to kick Aetos off! Aetos jumps back into Boy's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Aetos throws a big elbow that misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Boy is pulling down on Aetos's head. It's preventing any offense from Aetos, at least for the moment.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Boy can do anything to dispel that myth.

Aetos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Aetos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Aetos stands and throws Boy's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Aetos thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Boy takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Aetos works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Aetos is trying to get an arm triangle but Boy is defending well.
Aetos has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Boy is not content to let Aetos control the position.
Aetos is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Boy will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Aetos fails to land a wild elbow strike.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Aetos's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Boy connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Aetos scrambles back to his feet.
Boy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Aetos is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Boy can do to turn this around?

Boy's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

and Aetos counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Boy!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Aetos works to advance to full mount. Boy defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Aetos seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boy for as long as he can get away with.
