PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bob Probert (ranked 2246 p4p, 2938 weight class) and Vulfgang Takumi (ranked 286 p4p, 367 weight class). Vulfgang Takumi told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bob Probert!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Vulfgang Takumi!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takumi throws a series of punches but Probert moves out of range.
Probert uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Takumi.
A left lands for Probert.
Takumi jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Probert misses the jab.
Takumi now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Takumi throws a right hand that misses
enabling Probert to counter with a crisp jab.
Probert has been working on his boxing with his coaches at The House Of Pain in the buildup to the fight.
Vulfgang Takumi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Probert catches Takumi with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Takumi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Takumi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Probert takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Takumi lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Probert circles away quickly and effectively.
Takumi misses with a double jab
and Probert cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Takumi throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Probert connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Nice straight punches there by Probert. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Probert.
Probert lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Takumi swings for the body but Probert moves out of range.

Takumi stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Probert.
Takumi looks to throw the jab but Probert is out of range.
Takumi will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
The fighters circle momentarily. Probert darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Probert dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Probert lands with a nice body punch.
Takumi gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Probert avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Probert stuns Takumi with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Takumi's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Takumi duly obliges.
Probert lands a glancing blow to the side of Takumi's head.

Probert jabs at Takumi's body.
Probert throws out a loose jab but Takumi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Probert moves in looking to clinch but Takumi pushes him off.
Takumi throws a right hand that misses
and Probert counters with a nice body shot.
Probert throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Takumi stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Probert counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Takumi thinking.
Takumi moves away from the strike by Probert.

Probert closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Takumi stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Probert lands with a left to the head.
Probert struggles to land a body shot inside as Takumi controls his hands.
Probert goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Probert lands a hook to the side of the head.
Probert tries to throw a body punch but Takumi avoids it by throwing Probert back against the cage.
Takumi wants to break the clinch but can't.

Probert gets through Takumi's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Probert swings wildly with an uppercut but Takumi uses good head movement to avoid it.
The referee is keeping an eye on Takumi - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Probert cracks Takumi on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Takumi falls backwards against the cage. Probert follows up with more strikes that drop Takumi to his knees. Probert keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Takumi! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bob Probert!
Bob Probert spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
