Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jose Carvaleho (ranked 2396 p4p, 1733 weight class) and Kaino Ukkonen (ranked 299 p4p, 232 weight class). Jose Carvaleho has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 16 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jose Carvaleho! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kaino Ukkonen! The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Reed Andrews and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ukkonen lands a nice hook to Carvaleho's body. Carvaleho takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Ukkonen avoids the body shot from Carvaleho.
Carvaleho lands a really nice looking cross but Ukkonen seems unphased.
Ukkonen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Carvaleho. A shot to the body from Carvaleho misses and Ukkonen decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carvaleho's guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Carvaleho is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ukkonen defends well. Carvaleho throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Ukkonen won't allow Carvaleho to get back to his feet. Ukkonen passes Carvaleho's left leg - he's now in half guard. Ukkonen prevents Carvaleho from improving his position. Carvaleho looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Carvaleho tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land. Ukkonen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Ukkonen fails to move to back control. Carvaleho sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carvaleho tries to get to full guard but Ukkonen has control of the leg. Ukkonen working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ukkonen wants to work for an arm triangle but Carvaleho is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carvaleho is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Ukkonen scores with a couple of nice shots. Carvaleho slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Ukkonen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Carvaleho looking for a guillotine here but Ukkonen defends easily.
Carvaleho is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Ukkonen wants to control from the top but Carvaleho keeps moving.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carvaleho looking for a sweep. Not yet Carvaleho, not yet. Carvaleho is trying to control the position but Ukkonen postures up. Carvaleho is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Ukkonen works over Carvaleho with some ground and pound from guard. Ukkonen preventing the sweep. Ukkonen tries to free his leg and advance position but Carvaleho is retaining full guard. Ukkonen working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Carvaleho's head. Ukkonen forces his way into half guard. Carvaleho tries to get to full guard but Ukkonen has control of the leg. Carvaleho is staying active underneath Ukkonen, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Carvaleho is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Kung Pao , so we'll see if he gets out of it. Ukkonen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Carvaleho with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Ukkonen takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ukkonen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Ukkonen wants to pass the guard but Carvaleho is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Carvaleho tries to get to full guard but Ukkonen has control of the leg. The fighters are battling for position here. Carvaleho manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Ukkonen drops back looking for a leg! Carvaleho is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Carvaleho manages to kick Ukkonen off! Ukkonen jumps back into Carvaleho's guard. Carvaleho tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carvaleho has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Carvaleho bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ukkonen's guard.
Carvaleho avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Carvaleho can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Ukkonen looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Carvaleho is defending well. Ukkonen quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Carvaleho has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Ukkonen celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
