PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Lesnar (ranked 1438 p4p, 1463 weight class) and Roy Ike (ranked 42 p4p, 43 weight class). Roy Ike told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Lesnar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Roy Ike!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Lesnar just misses with a punch to the body.
Ike keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Ike ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Ike with the counter takedown but Lesnar avoids it easily.

Lesnar drives through and clinches with Ike against the cage.
Lesnar misses with the head strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lesnar will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Ike up against the cage.
Ike looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Lesnar misses with a hook to the ribs.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Lesnar.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lesnar has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Ike regains guard immediately.
Lesnar wants to control from the top but Ike keeps moving.

Ike working for a triangle but Lesnar defends it easily.
Lesnar works over Ike with some ground and pound from guard.

Ike has his foot on Lesnar's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Lesnar works his way back into a safe position though.
Lesnar postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Ike wants to sweep here but Lesnar controlling him for the moment.
Lesnar is working Ike over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lesnar has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Lesnar's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Lesnar landing with the ground and pound.
Lesnar tries to free his leg and advance position but Ike is retaining full guard.

Ike working for a triangle but Lesnar defends it easily.
Ike is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lesnar lands a couple of elbows.
Ike is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Lesnar is controlling him.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Ike's head.

Ike looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Ike tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Lesnar controls from within his opponent's guard.
Lesnar has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Ike is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Lesnar defends well.
Ike has momentary wrist control but Lesnar slips an elbow through the middle.
Lesnar scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Lesnar chips away with some ground and pound.
Lesnar connects with a couple of short punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lesnar is working Ike over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Lesnar sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Lesnar trying to control the position from guard on top but Ike is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Ike throws his legs up looking for a submission but Lesnar uses it to pass to side control.
Lesnar working the ground and pound.
Lesnar scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Ike to see if he's OK.
Lesnar creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee asks Lesnar politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lesnar prefers to stall for the moment though.
Lesnar in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Lesnar landing strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ike is looking for a sweep.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Lesnar dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Lesnar pushes Ike up against the cage in a clinch.
Lesnar tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Nice body punch from Lesnar - that landed with a thud.
A right hook to the body lands for Lesnar.
Lesnar lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ike backwards.
Lesnar scores with a shot to the side of Ike's head.

It looks like Roy Ike has been cut.
Lesnar lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Lesnar lands an uppercut.
Lesnar lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Ike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Lesnar.
Lesnar tries to throw a body punch but Ike avoids it by throwing Lesnar back against the cage.
Ike is breathing heavily.
Lesnar lands a nice uppercut.

Ike is rocked!
Lesnar pushes Ike against the cage. Lesnar is working some dirty boxing. Lesnar pushes off with a quick right hook! Ike goes down! Ike tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Lesnar moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mark Lesnar!
Mark Lesnar tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
