Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jake Askren (ranked 2420 p4p, 1701 weight class) and Dwalin Broadaxe (ranked 242 p4p, 178 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Jake Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dwalin Broadaxe!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Franklyn Lucas and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Askren moves into the clinch successfully.

Broadaxe works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Broadaxe is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Broadaxe throwing strikes from guard but Askren blocks nicely.
Broadaxe is looking to work some ground and pound but Askren has wrist control.
Askren working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Broadaxe.
Broadaxe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Broadaxe trying to control but Askren is working from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Broadaxe trying to control the position from guard on top but Askren is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Askren looking for a sweep. Not yet Askren, not yet.
Broadaxe cracks Askren with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Broadaxe throws a strike but Askren rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Askren slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Broadaxe has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Askren can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Askren will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Askren's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Broadaxe can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Askren controls the pace.
Askren is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Broadaxe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Askren postures up and lands a big shot to Broadaxe's brow.
Askren lands a couple of elbows.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Broadaxe is trying to control the position but Askren postures up.

Broadaxe is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Askren cracks Broadaxe with a solid left hand.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dwalin Broadaxe will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Askren throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Broadaxe on the side of the head.
Askren slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Jake Askren seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Askren shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Broadaxe drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Askren defends it well.

and Broadaxe counters with a single leg into guard. Askren didn't expect that.

Askren is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Arcalimon Top Team, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Askren wants to improve his position but Broadaxe is controlling well.
Askren has hold of Broadaxe's hands but Broadaxe slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Broadaxe seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Broadaxe thows a huge punch but Askren dodges it nicely.
Broadaxe misses with a head shot. Askren uses the momentum to regain guard.
Askren wants to sweep but no luck.
Broadaxe distracts Askren with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Broadaxe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Askren is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Askren has escaped and now he's on top!

Broadaxe throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Broadaxe tries to keep at a distance but Askren has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jake Askren has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Dwalin Broadaxe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Broadaxe is working for takedown but Askren is calmly controlling the position for now.

Askren tries to work over Broadaxe's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Askren throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Broadaxes head.

Jake Askren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dwalin Broadaxe.

Broadaxe has Askren pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Askren manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Broadaxe is trying to pull guard but Askren turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Askren pushes Broadaxe back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Askren makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.

Askren has clasped his hands together around Broadaxe's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

You can see the frustration on Broadaxe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Dwalin Broadaxe has got the better of the ground game so far.
Broadaxe is trying to work for a sweep but Askren has mounted him!

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Askren breaks from Broadaxe's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Askren pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Askren wants to control the pace but Broadaxe is squirming around nicely.
Broadaxe tries to reverse the position but Askren maintains control.
Askren punishing his opponent with strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Jake Askren showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Broadaxe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
