The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Covington slaps away a takedown attempt from Masvidal, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Masvidal gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Masvidal wants to get back to his feet but Covington is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Masvidal being controlled here, momentarily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masvidal is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Covington gets to his feet. Masvidal looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Masvidal throws a head kick but Covington moves out of range.
Jorge Masvidal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Covington shoots in for a takedown but Masvidal shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Masvidal is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Covington moves into the clinch.

Covington's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Masvidal dodges the punch combination from Covington.
Masvidal moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

Masvidal lands a nice looking kick to the body. Covington takes a step back to recover.

Oooooh!!! Masvidal has knocked Covington down with a huge combo! Masvidal steps away and waves a wobbly Covington back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Colby Covington has been cut.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Covington feints and as Masvidal raises his hands in defense, Covington changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Covington is breathing heavily.
Masvidal keeping moving, preventing Covington from controlling successfully.
Masvidal is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Masvidal pushes Covington off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.

Masvidal looks to land a combination but Covington avoids it well.

Masvidal lands a big head kick that sends Covington tumbling to the mat! Masvidal takes a step backwards and waves Covington back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Oh Covington is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Masvidal weaves into range and cracks Covington right on the temple with a beautiful overhand right! Covington goes down! He's out cold! Wow, what a beautiful knockout! Masvidal is strutting round the canvas like a movie star as the camera bulbs flash frantically.

After the fight, Jorge Masvidal was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
