Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zied Hakimi!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Trevor Gratis and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakimi tests Cox's chin there with a solid looking shot.

It looks like Greg Cox has been cut.
Hakimi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Cox back to the cage. Hakimi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Cox shoots in and bounces Hakimi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Cox is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Puncher's Chance Collective that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.
Cox might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cox slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Hakimi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Cox seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Hakimi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Cox is aware though and is defending well.

Cox is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Hakimi had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Cox defends it easily.

Hakimi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Cox is stalling in the full guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Hakimi avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hakimi on the ground.

Hakimi is looking for a triangle but Cox pushes his legs off easily.

Hakimi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Cox pulls his head out easily.

Cox is looking to stand up but Hakimi isn't so interested in that idea.
Cox pulls Hakimi in close to his closed guard and prevents Hakimi from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Cox not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hakimi drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Cox dives on top into guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Zied Hakimi will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Greg Cox's cut.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Hakimi thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Cox if he has to take too many more of those.
Hakimi dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Hakimi lands a big head kick that sends Cox tumbling to the mat! Hakimi takes a step backwards and waves Cox back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Cox is rocked!
Hakimi throws a head kick that misses.
Oh Cox is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Cox shoots in and bounces Hakimi off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Cox seems to have got his legs back now.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hakimi is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Cox controls from within his opponent's guard.
Cox content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Hakimi is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Cox has his hands clasped together but Hakimi extends and breaks Cox's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hakimi.
