Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Tony Paulik (ranked 3972 p4p, 5801 weight class) and Lucius Cassius Aetius (ranked 473 p4p, 553 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paulik shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Cassius Aetius napping and manages to drive through into side control!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Paulik goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cassius Aetius has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Paulik but great work by Cassius Aetius.

Paulik tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Cassius Aetius wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Cassius Aetius winds up and cracks Paulik with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Cassius Aetius has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Paulik is proving hard to escape from.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Paulik is on top in guard.

Paulik has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Paulik arches his back and unloads with a massive left and a right! Cassius Aetius's eyes roll back into his head, he's out cold! The ref dives in to stop the fight - wow, they were hard shots!
