Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ryan Walker (ranked 3432 p4p, 3618 weight class) and Shingen Takeda (ranked 408 p4p, 426 weight class). Walker comes to the cage accompanied by 362 Active - No Cap. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Takeda!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walker takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takeda sprawls well. Takeda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.

Walker shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Walker was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Takeda is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Takeda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walker pulls his head out easily.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Takeda has managed to free his arm - good work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Takeda is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walker pulls his head out easily.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Walker is trying to work for a kimura but Takeda is defending well.

Walker tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Takeda swivels and escapes.
Walker dives in for a single leg takedown but Takeda sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Takeda escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Walker darts in looking for a takedown but Takeda gets double underhooks and turns Walker into the cage.
Takeda lands with a right to the head.
Walker jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Takeda walks away with a smile on his face. Walker gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Walker looks for a takedown but Takeda sprawls well.

and Takeda counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Walker is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

and Takeda counters with a big head kick but Walker shrugs it off.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Walker will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Takeda looks like he wanted to counter with a high kick but didn't throw it.
Ryan Walker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Takeda stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Takeda wants it to stay on the feet.
Takeda throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Walker.
Walker throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Takeda's waist but Takeda gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Walker off to one side.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takeda as he avoids it easily.
Takeda has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
A nice leg kick from Takeda, right into the meat of the thigh.

Takeda lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

and Takeda counters with a head kick. That will keep Walker thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Takeda raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Takeda lands a head kick. Walker smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Walker closes the distance and clinches up with Takeda, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes Takeda against the cage but Takeda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Takeda dives in and scores a takedown into Walker's guard.

Takeda drops back looking for a leg! Walker is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Walker manages to kick Takeda off! Takeda jumps back into Walker's guard.
Takeda wants to control from the top but Walker keeps moving.

Takeda wants to pass the guard but Walker is keeping the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Takeda lands with a kick to the temple. Walker shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Takeda as he jumps to the side.
Walker fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Takeda avoids it really well and circles away.
Takeda drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Walker defends it well.
Takeda displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Walker.
A nice side step and Takeda releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Walker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Takeda sprawls well. Takeda wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walker gets slowly back to his feet.
Takeda throws a big counter head kick but Walker avoids it with no problem.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Takeda drives through with a takedown into guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Shingen Takeda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Takeda fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Walker on the side of the head.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Walker closes the distance and clinches up with Takeda, looking for a takedown. Walker pushes Takeda against the cage but Takeda circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

and Takeda counters with a nice double leg into side control. Walker won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee asks Takeda politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Takeda prefers to stall for the moment though.
Let's hope that Takeda has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Takeda thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Takeda is working to tighten his grip on Walker's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Walker has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Takeda is really squeezing tight and eventually Walker passes out! Takeda breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
