PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Diaz (ranked 3093 p4p, 4983 weight class) and Michael OMalley (ranked 379 p4p, 0 weight class). Diaz comes to the cage accompanied by The Rain. The crowd seem to be enjoying OMalley's choice of entrance music: E.B.K. (Everybody Killa) - Avatar Drako. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathan Diaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael OMalley!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Diaz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. OMalley tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Diaz is in OMalley's guard.
OMalley manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Diaz manages to get himself to full guard.

OMalley sitting in guard, not really doing much.
OMalley is in close to Diaz's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Diaz looking to control.
OMalley pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now.
OMalley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Diaz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.
OMalley content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
OMalley with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
OMalley postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Diaz has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but OMalley can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Diaz has momentary wrist control but OMalley slips an elbow through the middle.
Diaz is trying to control the position but OMalley postures up.
OMalley must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
OMalley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Diaz is trying to control the position from the bottom.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
OMalley distracts Diaz with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
OMalley is working Diaz over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells OMalley's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Diaz is rocked!
OMalley postures up.
Oh Diaz is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Diaz keeping full guard, as OMalley tries to pass.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
OMalley content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
OMalley loads up on a big left hand. Diaz felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - OMalley looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Diaz can't hide his disappointment, as OMalley celebrates the victory.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Michael OMalley!
Michael OMalley decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
Nathan Diaz spoke after the fight, saying 'That lil punk a$$ b!tch was talkin some mad sh!t bout me and Nick and stuff. I was just bout to turn up the pace and kill him. It's the Nick Diaz Army muthafu(kers! Me and his beefin ain't over yet because, I'm comin back to finish the job.'.
