Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Robert Munson (ranked 2140 p4p, 23324 weight class) and Mitch McGee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGee has chosen Survivor - Eye of the Tiger as his entrance music. Robert Munson has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Robert Munson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitch McGee! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, John Kavanagh and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Munson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McGee stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Munson paws at him with a jab and circles away. McGee will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Munson has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. McGee wants to clinch up but Munson keeps it at a distance. Robert Munson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Munson throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent McGee stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Munson lands with an overhand left. McGee tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Munson paws at him with a jab and circles away. Munson scores with a hook to the body. McGee takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. A telegraphed takedown attempt from McGee is defended easily by Munson. Munson ducks down and throws a hook to the body. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Munson fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. McGee's coach down at Cozad MMA New York was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on McGee's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight. Munson digs a good hook to McGee's body.
Munson lands an overhand right. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A jab from Munson finds it's way through McGee's defenses. Nice body punch from Munson. Munson lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. McGee tries for a takedown but Munson circles away easily and Munson counters with a leg kick. Robert Munson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mitch McGee.
That's one minute gone in the round. Munson digs a good body shot into McGee's ribs. Munson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Munson throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena. McGee tries to clinch but Munson is having none of it. It looked like Munson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from McGee. Donk. Munson catches McGee right on the button with a cross. Munson clinches with his opponent.
Munson lands a nice uppercut. Munson scores with a shot to the side of McGee's head. A right hook to the body lands for Munson.
McGee is looking to take this one to the mat. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Munson creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Munson presses McGee against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Munson lands a body punch in the clinch. Munson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of McGee backwards. Munson lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards. Munson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Munson gets through McGee's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The pace really dropping off here, momentarily. Munson lands on the inside with an uppercut. A body shot lands from Munson.
Munson lands a left hand.
Munson lands a left hand that snaps the head of McGee backwards. Munson scores with a shoulder strike. Munson jumps into guard, dragging McGee to the mat.
Munson working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. McGee doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Munson is tightening it up a little... McGee has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! McGee reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! McGee taps out! Nice BJJ there by Munson!
