Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Campbell (ranked 4704 p4p, 3737 weight class) and Jake Joshua (ranked 566 p4p, 494 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jonathan Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jake Joshua!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Campbell looking to score a takedown here. Joshua is defending well but Campbell drives through and ends up in Joshua's guard.

Campbell decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Campbell closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Joshua to the mat! Joshua manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Campbell looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Campbell accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Campbell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Joshua striking off his back but it's not causing Campbell any problems.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Joshua has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Campbell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Joshua utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Joshua is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Campbell defends well.

Joshua escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Campbell gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Campbell throws a strike but Joshua rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Joshua is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Campbell is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Campbell has escaped and now he's on top!

Campbell tries to free his leg and advance position but Joshua is retaining full guard.
Campbell wants to stand and escape but instead Joshua has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Joshua is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Joshua stands and steps away. Campbell gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Campbell really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Joshua gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Campbell trying to control but Joshua is working from the bottom.
Campbell passes Joshua's left leg - he's now in half guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Campbell has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Joshua works to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jonathan Campbell will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Campbell changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Joshua looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Campbell stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Campbell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Joshua on the ground.
Campbell has knee on belly momentarily but Joshua bucks him off and regains half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Campbell is looking to advance position but Joshua won't allow it.
Campbell will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Joshua is staying active underneath Campbell, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Campbell is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Joshua is refusing to be controlled, as Campbell sits in half guard.

Campbell is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Joshua is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Joshua is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Joshua gets caught flat footed, as Campbell shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Campbell is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Joshua is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Campbell frees his head nicely. Oh but Joshua has switched to an armbar! Campbell is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
