Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Juhani Mustonen (ranked 346 p4p, 205 weight class) and Huwan Bagwis (ranked 55 p4p, 36 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Juhani Mustonen has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Juhani Mustonen seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Juhani Mustonen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Huwan Bagwis!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Paul Aken and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mustonen with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bagwis to score with a decent uppercut.
Mustonen looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Bagwis clinches up against the cage.
Mustonen misses with a short punch on the inside.
Bagwis tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Mustonen's elbow.
Mustonen blocks an uppercut.
Mustonen scores with an uppercut up the middle.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Mustonen.
Bagwis misses with a short punch on the inside.
A short uppercut from Bagwis.
Bagwis misses with a punch on the inside.
Bagwis misses with a hook to the ribs.

Bagwis breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Bagwis closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Bagwis throws a punch but it's blocked by Mustonen.
Bagwis working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
A nice left hand lands by Bagwis.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bagwis working aggressively here.

Bagwis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A jab from Bagwis does it's job there.

Mustonen tries to keep at a distance but Bagwis has taken the fight into the clinch.

Bagwis misses with a hook from the clinch.

Bagwis breaks from the clinch.

Bagwis moves into the clinch successfully.
Bagwis misses with some punches.
Bagwis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mustonen lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Bagwis lands with a left to the head.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Bagwis takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
Bagwis has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Mustonen seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if Bagwis can turn it around.
Bagwis lands with a short shot to the head.
I was talking to Mustonen's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Bagwis throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Mustonens head.

Mustonen is rocked!
Mustonen swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Bagwis throws a head punch that misses.
Bagwis lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Mustonen backwards.
Oh Mustonen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bagwis tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Mustonen seems to have got his legs back now.
Bagwis throws a punch but it's blocked by Mustonen.
A short uppercut from Bagwis.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Bagwis lands a right hand that snaps the head of Mustonen backwards.
Bagwis struggles to land a body shot inside as Mustonen controls his hands.
Bagwis lands a body punch.
Bagwis digs a right hand underneath Mustonen's ribcage. Mustonen let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Bagwis stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Mustonen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Bagwis throws a punch but it's blocked by Mustonen.
Bagwis pushes Mustonen back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Bagwis.
Bagwis lands with a light punch inside.
Bagwis doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Bagwis misses with the head strike.
Bagwis lands an uppercut in the clinch that drops Mustonen to his knees! Bagwis keeps firing more shots against his stricken opponent and the referee jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Huwan Bagwis!
Huwan Bagwis is the new light heavyweight champion!
Huwan Bagwis decided to call for a title shot in his post fight interview, which was very strange given the fact this fight was for a title and he's already the champion. I guess that's what getting punched in the head does for you.
